Chapter 179 - Chapter 179: Malice

As Baba's voice echoed through the arena, a figure emerged from the mouth of the demon statue. It was a tall, pitch-black man with curved devil horns, wide bat wings protruding from his back, and a menacing presence. His sharp teeth and eyeless brows complemented the dark yellow sclera of his eyes, within which crimson pupils glimmered faintly. At first glance, he seemed to wear a black bodysuit, but closer inspection revealed it to be his unique skin. He was completely bare, devoid of any clothing or physical anatomy.

"Hmph, hmph, hmph." Devilman stood before Yamiru, folding his arms as his bat wings unfurled slightly, creating an oppressive atmosphere. "That weakling mummy actually lost to a mere human like you... Pathetic. But don't you dare confuse me with him!"

"Indeed!" Baba chimed in. "This Devilman was the champion of the very first two World Martial Arts Tournaments decades ago! Yamiru, you'd better be careful — he won't hold back. One slip, and you might actually die. I suggest you give up now."

Outside, Bulma leaned against the wall, faintly hearing Baba's voice, though it seemed deliberately loud enough to reach them.

She turned her head and said, "Sis, Baba just wants to make more money, doesn't she?"

Tights clenched the window's edge, her gaze fixed unwaveringly on the match. "But Yamiru also just wants to fight someone strong."

Goku, hanging by the window, nodded in agreement. "Exactly!"

The sheer strength of this new opponent made even Goku break into a cold sweat.

"Well then," Yamiru exhaled deeply, assuming the Turtle School stance. His eyes flashed gold as he focused intently. Against this foe, he would need to take things seriously.

"Hmph, such obstinance!" Devilman sneered. "This is the shortsightedness of humans!"

Baba raised her hand. "Alright, begin the match!"

Devilman leaped into the air, his wings flapping powerfully as he let out a sharp cry. "Foolish boy, I'll send you straight to my homeland — Hell!"

"Hell?" The word triggered something in Tights's mind as she watched from the window.

Devilman swooped down with his clawed fingers stretched out toward Yamiru, who stood on the tongue-like sculpture below. Devilman's speed far surpassed that of the mummy, and his lighter frame meant he didn't stir up powerful gusts during high-speed movements. This made his attacks even harder to predict.

Clang! The Power Pole blocked the razor-sharp claws.

Yamiru retaliated with a kick, spinning the pole with finesse as his golden eyes tracked Devilman's movements.

"Such flashy tricks." Devilman sneered before lunging again.

Unlike the Power Pole, Devilman's weapons were his claws — four of them! Not only were his hands equipped with sharp talons, but his feet were just as deadly. Yamiru couldn't afford to let even a single strike land.

In the confined space, Devilman's ability to fly gave him an overwhelming advantage. Fortunately, Yamiru could still rely on the Power Pole, using it to maneuver as he struggled to contend with his airborne foe.

Whack! Whack! Whack!

Seizing an opening, Yamiru's eyes blazed with golden light. He unleashed a barrage of strikes with the Power Pole, each blow raining down like a storm onto Devilman's head. Taking full advantage of the moment, he struck relentlessly, each hit heavier than the last. Finally, he leaped high into the air, gripping the pole with both hands and swinging it downward with all his might.

"Ahhh!"

Boom!

Devilman barely managed to raise his arms in time to block the strike.

The force of the blow sent painful tremors through his arms. Furious, Devilman snarled, "You dare hurt me, human?!" He grabbed the Power Pole and flung Yamiru toward the arena wall where there was no supporting structure.

However, as Yamiru flew through the air, he shouted, "Power Pole, extend!"

Vroom!

The enchanted staff emitted a red glow, responding to his command by stretching toward the wall. Not only did it prevent him from losing his grip, but it also helped him regain control mid-flight.

With a 'Thud', Yamiru and the extended Power Pole slammed into the wall. He pressed the end of the pole into the surface with one foot, anchoring it, and used the remaining momentum to press against the wall. At the same time, his hands, which had been gripping the pole, unknowingly formed a stance with his palms pressing together.

Goku's eyes brightened. "It's the Kamehameha!"

"Oh?" Baba, hearing this, floated toward the window where Goku and Tights were. "Who did this kid learn the Kamehameha from?"

Goku said, "My grandpa! Both Yamiru and I trained with Grandpa!"

"Your grandpa…" Baba said, her voice darkening. "I see, no wonder your name sounded familiar. You're the grandson of Son Gohan. Son Gohan... I wonder how he died…"

Before she could finish her sentence, Yamiru, still pressed against the wall, unleashed a brilliant blue-white light from his palms!

"What is that?" The Devilman, who had been holding his pole, saw the light emerging from Yamiru's palms. He looked toward the light's origin and saw Yamiru's figure becoming blurry from the glow of the Kamehameha. What was more devious was that Yamiru didn't chant any technique name, taking advantage of the Devilman's momentary distraction to launch his energy wave!

Boom! The blue-white beam shot downward at the stunned Devilman.

"Fool! I can fly!" the Devilman shouted in panic, flapping his wings and barely dodging the attack.

"He fell for it!" Goku grinned from the window.

Tights and Baba watched as Yamiru, after firing the energy wave, seemed to have anticipated the Devilman's escape. Without hesitation, he slid down the wall using his Power Pole, bending it to spring himself toward the airborne Devilman!

Baba was surprised. "Such impressive battle Qi..."

"Take this punch!"

Yamiru leaped high, throwing a spinning punch directly at the Devilman's stunned face! Boom — The Devilman was sent flying, crashing into and shattering the upper half of a toilet Devilman statue.

Phew...

Yamiru landed back on the central statue. That short battle had really drained him of much of his energy.

Tights smiled. "Seems like he wasn't boasting! He really has become much stronger."

Goku asked, "Why did you think Yamiru was boasting?"

Tights replied, "Isn't it normal for boys to boast in front of girls?"

Goku still didn't understand.

"Well then..." Baba was about to announce the result.

However, from the broken statue, the Devilman crawled out, looking disheveled. His hands joined together, and he aimed his middle fingers at his temples, seeming to prepare something, gritting his teeth as he growled, "Don't think it's over! I haven't used my trump card yet!"

"A trump card?" Yamiru turned around, genuinely unable to recall the Devilman's special move, which hadn't even been much of a threat before.

"Die!" the Devilman roared, pointing his fingers at Yamiru!

"That move... Wait, wait a minute!" Baba panicked, reaching out to stop him. "You don't have to use that move!"

But the Devilman didn't listen. From the tips of his fingers, a rotating light wave shot out, resembling a magical beam cannon, speeding toward Yamiru!

Yamiru's expression changed dramatically as the pain from the blast hit him, letting out a scream of agony.

Tights, horrified, asked Baba, "What is that? What happened?"

Baba's face darkened as she said, "That's... the Devilmite Beam! It's the Devilman's trump card. This attack causes all the malice, devil thought, and anger in a person's heart to expand, eventually causing the person to explode. That's why I initially said... maybe it would be better if Son Goku faced the Devilman instead…"
