Chapter 64 - Shadows and Secrets

Something was wrong.

That unsettling feeling of being watched hadn't faded. If anything, it had intensified.

I swallowed, my heartbeat drumming against my ribs. The chamber was dimly lit, lined with shelves of rare artifacts and ancient texts, but no amount of beauty could shake the cold unease crawling up my spine.

"Crown Prince Raheagr," I whispered, barely audible.

He was standing by one of the shelves, inspecting an old manuscript, but at the sound of my voice, he immediately turned his attention to me.

I hesitated, feeling ridiculous for even saying it aloud. But the prickling sensation at the back of my neck wouldn't go away.

"Someone is watching us," I finally said.

For a moment, Raheagr didn't react.

Then, in the blink of an eye, the warmth in his crimson gaze vanished, replaced by something sharp, dangerous.

Without a word, his hand dropped to his waist, where the hilt of his sword rested.

A heartbeat later—

Shhhhk.
