Darren's POV
Hours droned on as Rowena focused on her work. I stood in place, my arms locked behind my back as I whistled a low tune. My eyes fell on Diamond, watching her face contort in pain.
I strolled closer, falling to my knees beside the pool. I dipped a hand in, caressing Diamond's fingers. They felt a bit warmer, and my heart felt lighter. Her face looked had regained some colour, her perfect milk shade managing to shine under the pink ripples.
"Rowena, this pool is magical. Her body already feels warmer."
She shook her head at my words, her focus not leaving the table.
"It's only temporary. If I don't treat the root cause, the pool's effectiveness will eventually wear off. She can't stay in there forever."
I nodded. Her words made sense. If it was so simple, she wouldn't have had to go through tons of books, searching through numerous spells and potions.
