Chapter 2 - Vampire Problems

Ludwig was walking through the halls of the manor, whistling a tune as walks past the painting of his ancestors before him, but he stopped when he saw the Vampire staring at a portrait of Ludwig's father, James Frye. The vampire barely noticed he was standing there, yet. Ludwig would lean on the wall and say, "Pretty handsome man, I differently knew where my handsome looks came from now."

The Vampire turns around, draws the claymore off his back, points the blade at Ludwig, and questions, "Who are you?"

"Well, I am the great Ludwig Frye, head of this manor you stand in."

"What? I thought a man named James was the head of the Frye family?" The Vampire seemed confused.

"Sadly, James Frye is no longer with us."

"I see."

The Vampire still hands his blade out as Ludwig figures that he does not trust his word and plans to fight Ludwig. He smiles at the Vampire, who attacks him by swinging his blade at Ludwig. He avoids it by jumping over the attack, which leaves the vampire speechless as he did not expect that from Ludwig.

"Whoa, nice try there, my friend. If I were not as agile as a cat, I would have been cut in two," Ludwig commented.

"What? Normal people would have been dead after that?"

"I thought I told you I am the great Ludwig Frye. I am no normal man."

Ludwig drew his blade as he got ready to fight the Vampire. He swings his claymore around, trying to take Ludwig down. But Ludwig would sidestep and avoid the attacks given out by the Vampire. Ludwig was trained as a Demon Hunter at a young age, as it was tradition in his family, and he was taught by his father to be the perfect hunter. Ludwig can tell the Vampire is not used to the weapon he is using as he seems to swing it like a madman who just picked it up to protect himself. The Vampire appeared to be out of breath, too.

"I have to say that weapon looks alien to you? Would you like a break? My butler could make us tea until you are ready again," Ludwig said smugly.

The Vampire seemed shocked when he learned he had never used a claymore. He preferred using a longsword, but he could not grab him as he was in a hurry to leave wherever he came from. The vampire spoke in shock, "What? You can tell just like that?"

"Well, of course, my friend. I have trained in every weapon type, and a claymore is more for musclemen type who want to be big and strong."

The Vampire wondered if he could trust Ludwig for what he had. But the Vampire was unshaken; he wanted to defeat Ludwig even with this handicap—he had never wielded a big weapon like a claymore before and began to be on the defensive. Ludwig sees this and smirks as now he is going on the offensive. Ludwig starts to unleash a flurry of slashes and stabs. The Vampire tried to keep up but was eventually disarmed by Ludwig's attack, which overwhelmed the Vampire.

"That's checkmate, my friend," Ludwig would say as he slammed his left hand into the Vampire's face, knocking him out cold.

After a little while, the Vampire would awake in the room within the Frye Manor. He was lying in a bed, scanning the room for a bit before his gaze met Ludwig's. Ludwig was sitting in a chair, reading a book, and waiting for him to wake up.

Ludwig would look and see the Vampire staring at him and say, "Ah, you have awoken from your sleep?"

"Where am I?"

"Well, we are in a room nearby where we fought in the hallway."

"Ah, yes. It seems I was defeated then."

"It's not like you have experience with that blade of yours by the way you swung like a madman. So, let's not beat around the bush here. You seemed to have come here for something."

The Vampire looks down at his hands and says, "I have run away from home in search of James Frye. My mother used to be a maid who worked here for him. She told us that if my older siblings and I were in trouble. Search for a man in London named James Frye, and he will help you."

"I see. I must bear the worst news for you, but James Frye is no longer with us. I am Ludwig James Frye, the only son of James Frye."

"All right, so coming here was a waste."

"Not at all. I shall take your request for my father as his biggest motto was to help those in need."

"Very well, I am Alucard Dracul. As you can tell, I am a Vampire. I have come to give this to James to have it destroyed."

The Vampire known as Alucard grabs something from his pocket. He shows Ludwig a strange small statue. Ludwig feels a malicious aura coming from it and holds it from Alucard.

"I see. I will do that as this seems mysteriously evil," Ludwig says, placing it in his pocket to store it until he finds a way to destroy it.

"I guess, now my mission is complete," Alucard commented.

"What would you do now, my boy?" Ludwig questioned.

"I have to say, for now, lay low as my father will come after me for taking that statue from him."

"You could just stay here for a while. I assure you I can take whatever your father throws at me."

"So, you say you could take on Dracula, King of the Vampires?"

Ludwig looked surprised as Alucard revealed that he was the son of Dracula. But Ludwig was still unshaken by this and smiled, "Well, of course. I am confident I could take out that vampire with some effort."

"Man, you're a crazy one?"

"Of course, to be a Frye, you must be a madman willing to put his life on the line."

Ludwig would then whistle, signaling Jay, who was nearby cleaning up the mess from their battle.

Jay enters the room and asks, "You called for me, sir?"

"Yes, Jay. I want you to meet our young friend, Alucard, here."

"It's good to meet you, Sir Alucard. I am Jay Jayson, the head butler of the Frye Family."

"It's an honor to meet you, Jay," Alucard replied.

"Alucard will be staying for a while," Ludwig commented. "Please make sure he is comfy here, my friend."

"Of course, sir. I will ensure his needs are met," Jay says, ready to serve him.

"Good, because things may be getting interesting around here," Ludwig said with a smile.
