Ace's POV
As I reached for my food, Ovelia suddenly placed a piece of roasted meat on my plate, her smile wide and inviting.
"A, try this!" she encouraged, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
I speared a chunk with my fork and took a cautious bite. Moments later, I swallowed, noticing everyone watching intently, waiting for my reaction.
"It's good! It tastes like rabbit meat and a bit sweet," I replied, trying to sound enthusiastic.
"I'm glad you like it! That's a rat, but don't worry, they get them from their rice farm, so I think it's safe," Ovelia said, beaming with pride.
At those words, a wave of nausea washed over me. I had been living in this world for so long, yet I never imagined I'd be tasting rat meat.
I glanced at Ray, who was clearly struggling to contain his laughter.
"Hahaha, what a reaction, A!" Philip chimed in, nearly doubling over. Moments later, he was choking on his own laughter, prompting Chief Gareth to rush over with water.
