"Kai, I didn't mean to hide it from you deliberately." Chen Yuxin said excitedly.
"Then tell me, why did you leave?" Ye Shikai suddenly stood up, slapped the table, and was equally emotional.
"I, I..." Chen Yuxin was nearly collapsing, almost sobbing inaudibly.
"Tell me." Ye Shikai shouted, his hands gripping Chen Yuxin's arms, but the response he got was silence.
"I can't say," Chen Yuxin cried.
"Do you know how heartbroken I was when you left without a word eight years ago, how I tried to find answers, but all in vain?" Ye Shikai sank into the chair, his hands dropping powerlessly. "Later, I fantasized that if I had noticed the signs earlier, if I could've asked you earlier, if I could do it all over again now, I would stop you."
"Kai, it's my fault, I shouldn't have kept it from you." Chen Yuxin sobbed, curling up.
