Chapter 10 - Chapter 6 Do Not Insult the Beasts

Director Liang clearly overestimated his combat capabilities. How could a man in his fifties, with a mind full of vile thoughts, possibly open a thick anti-theft door? But at this moment, he calmed down, stopped kicking the door, and worried the noise might attract some monsters, which would be like shooting himself in the foot.

He then sinisterly called into the room:

"Don't worry, Teacher Chen, I have some meat cans left unfinished. Out of good faith, I'll place them at your doorstep. It won't be long before it gets dark. Either you open the door and eat, or... let those monsters eat."

"Who knows, tonight after you die, I might even find your body and still get some warmth...eh!"

The threatening words were not yet finished when suddenly, a dull chopping sound rose from outside the door.

Liang Wei, who had just been spouting filth, suddenly went silent.

Thud.

The sound of someone falling to the ground echoed through the hallway.

Chen Sixuan's eyes widened in shock, and she tremblingly moved towards the peephole again. When she placed her eye against it and saw the scene outside, her pupils shrank in alarm!

Outside the door, a rather familiar young man was pulling a knife from Liang Wei's head!

Lin Xian!

Director Liang had his skull split open with a single strike from him!

Seeing this scene, Chen Sixuan gasped in shock, still not recovered when she heard a voice from outside.

"Teacher Chen, if you're still alive, I suggest we don't waste time."

Lin Xian's voice sent a shiver down Chen Sixuan's spine.

He was here to take her away!

Chen Sixuan's expression visibly brightened, feeling a surge of relief seeing Liang Wei being chopped down, and suddenly, with courage from nowhere, she opened the door without hesitation.

"Lin... student..."

She instinctively called out, then saw the bloody short knife in Lin Xian's hand and involuntarily stepped back two steps, her eyes conveying a mix of horror and delight.

Her gaze swept around, and she saw Liang Wei, almost split to the forehead, collapsed on the ground with eyes wide open in anger, a ghastly mixture of red and white oozing out, his death exceedingly gruesome.

Ugh~

Chen Sixuan finally couldn't hold back, covering her stomach, she started retching.

But she hadn't eaten for two days, her stomach empty, nothing came out but gastric juice.

Lin Xian looked at Chen Sixuan, who appeared quite haggard compared to the vibrant and commanding teacher she was in class, a stark contrast that made him somewhat sentimental.

Today, Chen Sixuan wore denim jeans and a sports shirt topped with a light windbreaker.

Perhaps this was what she deemed suitable for escaping.

"This kind of person is almost like a beast; don't feel burdened. Have you packed your luggage?" Lin Xian's gaze moved from a row of high heels on the shoe cabinet beside them and finally rested on Chen Sixuan's feet, noticing she wasn't even wearing shoes.

"Ready... I'm all set!"

Chen Sixuan, fighting the turmoil inside her, quickly adjusted her state to avoid appearing as a drag in front of Lin Xian, bent down swiftly to wear her shoes, her gaze shifting away from Liang Wei's corpse.

Lin Xian didn't waste words; he walked in, scavenged around, and grabbed a cardboard box, throwing in a coffee machine, juicer, and several other small appliances from Chen Sixuan's kitchen, then handed it to her.

"Hold this."

"Uh, why do I need these?!" Chen Sixuan grabbed it, nervous yet curious, not understanding why Lin Xian was gathering these items.

But now with Lin Xian as her savior, without his response, she put away her questions and obediently followed, carrying the box.

Chen Sixuan's entire luggage was just a small travel bag.

Apart from a few clothing items, there wasn't much important in it.

Right, and a box of condoms.

Although she was inexperienced, as a highly educated woman, she had an open concept of self-protection since adulthood.

Now, in the apocalypse, getting pregnant equated to entering hell.

Regardless of what she was about to face, this was her last protection.

Besides that, she had no more food or water.

On the 1203 room upstairs, Director Liang's house, the door was locked, but Chen Sixuan didn't know what Lin Xian did; he only placed his hand on the door, operated something, and it opened.

Liang Wei said he had loads of food and water at home, and Lin Xian wouldn't miss this chance to scavenge.

But as soon as the door was opened, a foul stench wafted out, Chen Sixuan peered behind Lin Xian, nearly fainting as her stomach churned.

Ugh~

Not just her, even Lin Xian turned pale, his eyebrows tightly furrowed.

Because inside Director Liang's house, not only was there no food or water, the entire place was stained with blood. In the kitchen laid half of a butchered corpse, seemingly a middle-aged woman.

It wasn't hard to guess, this unfortunate woman was probably the original lady of the house, Director Liang's wife.

"I apologize to the beasts, calling it a beast is an insult to all beasts." Lin Xian's eyes turned cold. "Let's go! Follow closely and try not to make any noise." Realizing there were no useful items to search for, he decisively turned and left.

"Okay!" Chen Sixuan's face was ashen, completely terrified.

"There are many dead people outside, don't shout."

"Okay!"

"At any time, watch your step, don't fall."

"Okay!"

Having witnessed such a tragic human condition, at this moment Chen Sixuan was like a good student, listening intently to whatever Lin Xian said.

Her woman's intuition told her that following Lin Xian was the right choice.

Pfft!

On the platform, Lin Xian split several zombies' heads as he led Chen Sixuan down the small path of the platform.

Chen Sixuan's face was deathly pale, suppressing the turmoil in her stomach as she followed.

She hadn't expected that the outside world had turned into such a dire scene, truly like a human inferno.

The scene at Director Liang's home would surely become an indelible nightmare for her.

In the dark tunnel, only the sound of their breaths rushing could be heard.

Before long, the dim track lights cast a giant shadow of a train, Chen Sixuan's mouth agape in surprise. As Lin Xian moved past, the heavy train suddenly started up, its headlights bursting forth, engulfing Chen Sixuan in light.

"Don't daze, hurry up on board."

"Okay."

Lin Xian took the small home appliance from her hand and grabbed Chen Sixuan's hand, pulling her onto the train.

The two then entered the cockpit and closed the thick iron door.

Inside, the lights were bright, and instantly, wrapped by steel walls, a tremendous sense of security surged in Chen Sixuan's heart.

"Lin, do you really know how to drive a train?"

"Did I just roll this thing here?"

Lin Xian smiled faintly, relaxed a bit after closing the door.

He placed his hand on the floor, activated the Mechanical Heart to turn off the train's headlights, then took her to the Carriage 1 and found a bag of bread and a bottle of water from the supplies, tossing them to Chen Sixuan.

"You look like you haven't eaten in days. Eat."

Chen Sixuan took them with an excited expression, her eyes reddening and silent tears continuously fell from her face. Biting her lower lip to hold back her emotions, she said with a trembling voice,

"Tha... thank you..."

She was indeed starving. Without even putting down her backpack, she tore open the bread packaging and began to devour it tearfully.

Lin Xian sat opposite her, restoring his energy while observing Chen Sixuan.

Seeing a familiar face also brought great comfort to Lin Xian's heart.

In this apocalyptic world ruled by life and death, no one could resist the consuming feelings of fear of death and loneliness; he was no exception.

Humans are social creatures, especially after the internet had failed, the feeling was downright terrible.

Operating the Infinity, including using the Wind Cannon Skill, greatly drained his energy.

It's hard to describe, but using such power always took a toll on the body.

"Chen Si..." Lin Xian's eyes flickered, "Forget it, I'll still call you Teacher Chen."

Seeing Chen Sixuan eating the bread voraciously, Lin Xian started to set some ground rules.

"First, let me tell you, I'm a Superpower User, no one else but me can operate this train, if I die, you're dead too. So, since I've brought you on board, from today onwards, we are allies, teammates. You must trust me unconditionally and follow my arrangements, or else your ending will be very tragic."

Chen Sixuan swallowed a mouthful of bread, her eyes red as she looked at Lin Xian and nodded firmly.

"I understand, from today onwards I'll listen to you."

Lin Xian nodded. "As for what Superpower I have, you don't need to know. This train is our fortress, very solid, but it might not necessarily withstand those monsters. Of course, there will definitely also be bad people coveting our supplies. When we are desperate, sometimes human hearts can be more frightening than devils."

"Thus, many times, I will need you to help me solve problems, search for supplies, and you will also need to point out routes and guard the door well."

"Okay." Maybe it was because she had something to eat, Chen Sixuan gradually regained some strength.

"And also, Teacher Chen." Lin Xian slowly stood up, looking seriously at her, "You better be mentally prepared, I will definitely sleep with you."

Chen Sixuan's body visibly shivered at his words, involuntarily tightening her grip on the bread. She sat on the floor, her messy long hair obscuring her somewhat flustered gaze.

Lin Xian, her former student, saying this so bluntly, still gave her a jolt.

She lowered her head and nodded slightly in response.

Then she continued to eat her bread, her heart pounding wildly.
