"I'm fine."
Emily Parker lowered her head slightly, her voice gentle.
Carlos's gaze unintentionally swept past, just catching a glimpse of her fair and delicate neck.
Emily's skin was astonishingly good, the skin on the top of her head like the first snow in winter, without a trace of blemish, smooth and delicate, making Carlos's heart race uncontrollably.
He coughed lightly in a bit of a panic, trying to cover up his loss of composure.
Turning his head, he saw his sister Maria Carter watching them with an aunt-like smile, her eyes sparkling.
Carlos immediately felt a mix of embarrassment and anger, saying irritably,
"What are you laughing at? If there's nothing, don't bother your sister-in-law, let her rest more."
Maria mischievously stuck out her tongue, made a funny face, then hopped out of the room.
The room instantly fell quiet, so quiet that they could hear each other's faint breathing.
