Chapter 3 - Chapter 1: Part 3

It was a couple days since Mynes incident with her fever. I manage to get the family to come over again so she can get examined by a doctor to figure it out. Considering the possible supernatural source for the illness, I asked Gojo and Albus for a doctor that might be able to help.

"Thank you Albus" I said to him as he smiled. "Of course, a child in need should be given help no?" he said in a way that sounded like a question, but it really was a statement. I had a feeling he was a great headmaster, with a favoritism streek, which he admitted the other day over a glass of fireball.

"Seriously, why gryffindor?" I asked him as I poured him another glass, waiting for the other doctor to show up. The doctor Albus provided, Madame Pomfrey, seemed to shake her head at this blatant drinking, during the day no less, but it seemed she wouldn't voice her opinion, Albus probably wouldn't listen anyways.

"I find them a bit amusing, even if they sometimes go a bit far" said Albus, his face momentarily overshadowed, as if recalling a bad experience he regretted. Madam Pomfrey seemed to know about the experience as she slowly patted him on the back. I heard sweet whisperings, but I could not make out any words.

"Well, is there any favorites among the current classes?" I asked him as he seemed to recall something extremely funny, as a cacophony of laughter echoes out into the pub. "Yes, a pair of weasely twins, whose jokes are sometimes good" he said, and muttered something about rule breaking under his breath.

It seemed the sorcerers chose this as the time to come in, and we were in a round of raucous laughter as he told us a story about the twins and the castle caretaker called Filch. After he got done telling the story, he greeted the jujutsu sorcerers like old friends, considering he a Gojo get along pretty well.

"Ah, Gojo! and you must be Shoko Ieiri right?" I greeted them as the one with the cigarette, Shoko, sat down at the bar and I began pouring her a drink. As we were working on something later, every drink I gave was non-acoholic so we can be aware for the job.

"Thank you" said Shoko as she sipped tenderly at the drink I gave her, it being more of a cocktail with a fruity taste. If I remembered right, I think it was strawberries and lime. "This is a nice one, what is it called?" she asked me as I shrugged my head. "How about the Ieiri cocktail?" she asked, though it sounded more like a joke, which solidified into reality as it automatically carved itself onto the drink menu behind me.

"I was just kidding" she said as she sipped at her drink again, finishing it in gulps. 'She seemed nice' I thought as I then asked her if she knew what she was here for. "Yeah, Satoru said something about a child with a supernatural illness you wanted my help with" she uttered as she pointed at Gojo, her use of his first name already denoting their familiarity.

"Yes, I wanted atleast the opinion of doctors associated with the supernatural, even if you may not find anything" I said to them as Madam Pomfrey and Shoko nodded. "Yes, the headmaster said the same thing" said Pomfrey.

"Alright, lets head over" I said as we exited the pub into Myne's world, this only being possible due to my control over the pubs functions. It was quite surreal to have a power like this, considering its massive potential it could bring me.

As we stepped out onto the daylit street, we caught a few stares from some women in the neighborhood. In fact, one looked very familiar. "Miss Effa!" I shouted as I got the woman's attention. "Oh, its you" she said, and she began to walk over towards us, but I caught a curious stray following by.

"Effa, who are these weirdos?" asked the woman, whose name was apparently Karla as we were introduced briefly by Effa, as Karla was apparently Lutz's mom. "These are some people that helped us" said Effa as the woman seemed to smile, as we were confirmed not to be bad people, just well meaning weirdos.

"But still, what's with the weird get up?" asked Karla as she observed our clothes, with an eye that said she seemingly held with experience. "Where we are from, its common to wear this" I said to her. She seemed unsatisfied at the answer I gave her, but she let it go as she went back to whatever she was doing, from here it looked like laundry.

"Thank you for helping my daughter" said Effa as she led us back to her famly's apartment. The building was quite good, but one can tell it was for those of poorer means to live in. Then again, the streets and even the people can tell you that, if you pay close enough attention.

As we entered the room, Myne was laying down on a bed which was covered in a blanket that was seemingly filthy. Albus looked around and it looked like he did not like the circumstance, neither did Pomfrey or Shoko. Albus grabbed his wand and muttered a word, and the dirt seemed to disappear.

The others in the room, parents and siblings and otherworlders included, looked at it in amazement. "Wow, I thought magic was just a thing in fairy tales" said Tuuli as she gazed in wonder at the magical act, her father, Gunther, seemingly nodding along. "Alright, we have brought some medical experts for Myne, so lets move out so they can get to work" I said to the occupants as we left, though some still wanted to be in there.

"Will Myne be okay?" asked Gunther in concern. "I don't know, but I bet she will" I said to them, but my words didn't seem to assuage their worries. The atmosphere felt stuffy and uncomfortable, but it was dispelled after the experts exited the room.

"So, what's the verdict?" asked a concerned Effa as she looked towards the closed door, worry seemingly etching itself onto her face. "The problem is complicated, but we have figured out something" said Pomfrey as she gestured to Shoko.

"The problem is an overabundance of energy, supernatural in nature which Pomfrey identified as Mana" said Shoko as she then brought up the ring I gave her, a draupnir, which apparently can absorb magical power. "This device absorbed the energy, thus lessening the burden but it will accumulate again and needs to be drained again" said Shoko as Effa then began to cry.

"How can we afford to treat her? We have no money to do so" said Effa as she cried very loudly. I stared at her, feeling unsure of what to do when the door opened, and out stepped a little girl, a girl who looked younger than her actual age.

"Myne!" screamed Tuuli as she ran over to hug her sister, who was only able to weakly hug her back. "Mom, why are you crying?" asked Myne, but her eyes seemingly betrayed her ignorance.

The question only seemed to make Effa cry harder as Gunther tried to console her. "Myne, while that ring was free this time, how can we afford your next treatment?" asked Gunther as the harsh reality of the world was laid bare before us. I could feel a growing uncomfort as I coughed to get their attention.

"If your worried about affording them, why not have Myne work for me?" I asked them as the others looked at me in surprise. "A child, working in a pub?" asked Albus as he looked at me with an incredulous look, as if I was inviting a scandal. 'Then again, maybe' I thought.

"Working with you? What could I even do?" asked Myne as I kneeled down to her level so I could speak to her more clearly. "Well, you could serve drinks and food" I said to her as I tousled her hair in an affectionate manner. "Really, and I would be able to be payed in these rings?" she asked.

"Of course, and much more" I said to her, and I noticed tears were glistening in her eyes. She then started full on bawling. I looked out of my element as her parents continued the conversation with me.

"So all she will be doing is serving drinks and food, and you are willing to pay her in these rings and even money?" asked Gunther looking confused and out of his element like I was a moment ago. "Yep, and she can rest as much as she needed, plus even get an education if she wanted" I said to them as I listed benefits I wanted to give my employees.

Her parents looked genuinely elated as Myne now had a sudden thought. "What about Benno?!" she shouted as I looked over to her, indicating her to speak more. "Benno is a merchant I have gone into dealing with, and I plan to make paper for him to sell by the spring" she said and I began to ponder.

"Well, you can always invite him over to discuss business or on your off days, go do business with him, the choice is yours. Also, you can also hire Lutz as well" I said as Effa gasped in surprise.

"Your willing to hire Lutz?! I bet Karla will be happy" said Effa as she pumped her hands in the air, seemingly excited for the proposition presented to her daughter and the son of a friend of hers.

It then came down to me and Myne outlining the terms of our working partnership as she then asked if I had a magical contract to seal the deal in writing and blood. "Contract?" I said to her as she realized I didn't know what she was talking about. "It was used with Benno, we used a contract to seal our terms in writing" she said and said we can deal with it later.

"Alright, what do you think Myne?" I asked her as she looked like she was pondering. "I think the terms are good, its a deal!" she said to me as she stuck out her tiny hand. "Well, now that we got an immediate concern out of the way, lets talk healing" said Pomfrey as she began to outline a whole medicine regiment.

Pomfrey and Shoko said they were willing to stop by and check on them if needed, and Poppy, which was the name Albus called her, said she would be back with a batch of potions to help make her feel better and get in 'right shape'.

"Alright, I say lets head back to the pub and let the parents see their daughters new workplace" I said to them as the parents nodded. "It would be good to see where she would work" said Effa as they began to follow me back out to the Giants Pub.

As the parents looked around, Myne on Gunthers shoulders, Shoko and Poppy pulled up to the bar table. "A sherry please" said Poppy as I poured her a drink and poured Shoko Ieiri an Ieiri cocktail. "That was a strange one" said Shoko as she drank her drink. "Yes, it was quite weird" said Pomfrey as she seemingly concealed thoughts in her head.

"The mana build-up is unheard of in my world, but her not having a way to siphon it off seems cruel" said Pomfrey. I nodded as the nature of Myne's class was a major obstacle in her way. "Hey, atleast she will be fine now" I said to them as they nodded. As I poured their drinks, shrieks of Myne's family could be heard and I could relish in their excitement. 'This adventure has turned out alright' I thought to myself as I poured a drink and said a silent toast to my future.
