She didn't pull away.
Her body molded to his, firm and searingly hot through their clothes, her breath stuttering in her throat as she nipped his lower lip, hard, a deliberate dare that stung.
"Still a fraud," she hissed into his mouth, her voice trembling with spite, half-lost in the messy press of their lips.
He grinned against her, the edge of his teeth grazing her as his hand slid up her side, fingers brushing the swell of her ribs through the taut fabric of her dress.
"Keep dreaming," he rasped, voice rough with heat, and dove back in, deeper this time, his tongue sweeping past hers to silence her next taunt.
Her moan, a low, grudging "mmph," rumbled against his mouth, vibrating through him, it lit a fire in his gut, spurring him on.
Her free hand roamed his chest, nails scraping through the thick weave of his tunic, leaving faint trails of heat that prickled his skin.
