While still carefully looking at the talking raven he began asking one of the countless questions on his mind.
"Why did you call me the 'Demon of the Unknown' ?"
The raven puffed its feathers up and began to talk again, its beak still completely unrelated to what was truly being said.
"The religion of rescue and safety pronounced you as a 'Demon', a threat to their wellbeing."
"I... want to help them, make good what I did wrong...."
The crow began moving its beak as if it was laughing but undisturbed by that the voice continued talking.
"They don't care. I was pronounced as a demon when I healed an innocent little child, just because I wasn't like them, just because I don't worship the gods.... and because I'm a talking raven..."
The raven stared intently at Cades, probably trying to get him to put his sword away, but Cades didn't put it away, not even in the slightest, he had been hurt too many times.
Cades still continued on talking, he had many questions.
"How do you know the ehetrian language ?"
The bird had now flown down from the top of the shelf onto the desk and began explaining.
"Long ago I had met another ehetrian, we spent years learning each others language."
"What ? Another ehetrian was here ? How...who was he ?"
The bird slowly sat down and began telling him about the ehetrian.
"The ehetrian that was here had the same eyes as you, actually, he gave me those eyes..."
Cades just assumed that it was a pioneer that had died during a mission, so he didn't really care because he remembered a very important thing he wanted to ask.
"Why are you just talking like this ? What do you want ?"
The raven seemed to once again smile widely as he began explaining the reason for it to talk like this.
"I know that you vowed to kill me, so, instead of doing that I want to propose a deal. Lets have a duel, whichever one of us loses will have to serve the winner for.... how long do ehetrians live again ?"
"Around three hundred years, though we are basically in a vegetative state past two hundred years."
'Hekima' smoothly continued talking as he proposed the end of his deal.
"Then... twelve years. How about it ?"
Cades thought about the deal carefully.
He needed a magic teacher and this raven had been learning magic for many years but there was another important thing he needed to ask about before anything else.
"What are you going to make me do ?"
The crow puffed its onyx feather dress once more and began his answer.
"I'm probably going to lose. I'm one of the weaker demons after all, barely at the middle of the lord rank, but if i were to win I'd probably just have you as my research partner for higher ranking magic. What would you make me do ?"
Cades didn't need to think, he knew the answer, he knew what he needed the most right now. A way to utilize his abundant mana correctly. He needed a teacher.
"I'd have you be my magic teacher."
Hekima nodded with its little head and proposed one more thing before they would start.
"Lets go somewhere else, I don't want to destroy my library."
Cades, noticing something, pointed his sharp, ghostly white sword at the demon.
"I'm not some fool, speak the oath and I shall agree."
"Very well"
{I, Hekima, eldest of the ravens, hereby declare that if this ehetrian, Cades Kirgun, is to defeat me I will serve him for twelve years}
Cades already knew what he had to do, after all this had been basic education in regards to monster.
Many different beings could try and trick magicians using this spell, the "unbreakable oath".
{I, Cades Kirgun, one of ehetria, hereby declare that if this being, the one who claims his name to be Hekima and has bound himself to me through this oath, is to defeat me I will serve him for twelve years.}
Hekima led Cades to a secret entrance hidden on the sides behind one of the shelves.
Cades was surprised as he saw how the ancient stone had no form, as he saw how all the books simply moved aside and as he simply walked through the ancient stone.
It caused a very peculiar feeling as he felt the magical stone phase through him, but before he even knew it, they were at the top of a well known mountain.
"This is the... arak-region."
The crow nodded as it responded with something that Cades barely understood.
"This is the place where your thoughts are, I'm not sure why."
Cades wanted to turn around, but at that moment an intense gust of wind hit him in the back and he was thrown about ninety feet away.
He was barely able to save himself from falling off of the mountain as he responded with a fire spell of his own, the "flaming lance".
The wave of violet flames was much bigger and faster than he had expected as it hunted after the fleeing Hekima who was barely able of evading the fate of being pierced by the sharp mass of flames.
But Hekimas retaliation didn't wait long, as the raven manipulated the ground under Cades feet and bound him to that very place, at least that was what he tried to do, but Cades was easily able to rip the stone bondages apart and fly up, towards the sky, as he began hunting down the swiftly flying, small raven.
Cades was stronger than the raven in every way, but it was smarter and used its own power much more effectively.
As such Cades was quickly able to catch up to the big raven, he was about to grasp it within his hands, but then Cades hands went through Hekima, just like with the stone shelf and at that very moment a stone spear hit him from behind, shattering on impact.
Cades turned around as quick as he could but the crow was nowhere to be seen.
