A lone being covered in nothing but a feathered cloak walked along an endless chain that seemed as if it had been made out of ancient metal by hundreds of millions of tiny smiths over decades, the beings eyes were brightly burning in a violet flame as the being was walking ahead with a slight stump.
The being was covered in a crust of black, underneath one could see some light armor and clothes that seemed to have been black once at some point long ago, added to that the relatively small being wielded a weird, crystal glove that looked chipped and old but was still radiating a feeling of pure mana.
It had nothing against his waist, it seemed as if something had been ripped off as it also didn't have a belt but the coat that it wore had a pattern resembling one.
The hair of the creature which was somehow still relatively clean in comparison to his other body parts was hanging down in strands, reaching almost all the way down to his shoulders.
Its face was horrid, it seemed lost, with dark, sunken eyes that seemed to signify just how much he it had lost and just how much pain it had to bear for a long time.
Everyone that would've seen it would've realized that it was weird, it was thinking, not acting, just walking and simply thinking, in a mindless rhythmic pattern that was quite soothing to the ears of anyone that would've theoretically listened to it.
Cades had been thinking about what to do exactly for a few hours now, he had stood still in place for an around entire hour before he had finally began moving again, but here he was, engrossed in his thoughts while the entire world turned into a stream of black nothingness.
And yet the light coming from underneath never changed its position, so much so that he wasn't certain how much time had truly passed, maybe it had only been minutes, but he did not think that, instead the sun was probably either incredibly slow or stationary.
All this caused the flying islands to be dark at their tops and full of light underneath, quite a creepy feeling.
After some time he had also finally realized that he was at the next rank, the rank after a lord.
On the other hand that wasn't really useful to him, there was nothing he could do right now, all he could do was ravel in his own power and think as he was walking across the seemingly endless onyx chain.
He, however, didn't really feel a difference, on the other hand he didn't really have to fight against anyone else yet, or really use his full power in this... whatever this is...
Cades had no idea what was going on but he had realized one thing, he had no idea which species his new body belonged to, as previously mentioned it looked similar to a ehetrian except for the fact that they didn't seem to have wings and also didn't seem to live off of energy or mana.
Cades didn't know it but the species which he now belonged to, at least for some time, were humans.
He was hungry, almost starving, as if he hadn't eaten in months, which he technically speaking probably didn't, at least not the correct food for this body, but Cades had no idea what type of food this species ate, for all he knew it could eat stones or even the very metal that the endless chain was made out of, whatever that may be.
Actually, Cades did try to bite into the onyx metal as a test, but instead of eating it he couldn't eat it, his bodily reflexes were stopping him, as such he just assumed that the body couldn't devour the metal.
Maybe they ate poison, maybe they just drank water, maybe they ate divine energy like some ridiculously rare races or maybe, in all likelihood, this species just ate that which was most common under most species, meat, vegetables and such.
But that knowledge, if it even was correct, wasn't of any use to the current Cades, he had no access to almost anything, as he had also lost his bag of holding after the kurakkan.
Luckily he still had his staff, hung on his belt that he had made a few months back out of the intestines of the demon of the skies, the horrid bird which he had once defeated in his first real battle in this world, aside from the humans and maybe the captains.
Countless questions ran by in his mind.
He wondered how Mangel was doing, had he already recovered from the attack ?
Did Nelia maybe survive ehetria ?
Was Hekima devoured by the endless mass of the kurakkan ?
What had happened ?
He sombrely thought back at everything that happened.
Why had all of this happened to him ?
Why had the kurakkan even been there ?
Kurakkans were guards, what had it been guarding ?
.... maybe the continent ?
Was that the reason that he was send to wherever this place was ?
Now that Cades thought about it various things didn't add up, why was there a burning skeleton ?
And what was the skeleton ?
Well, he should be able to answer at least that question, at least that's what Cades thought as he continued walking forward, each of his rhythmic steps resounding through the endless void with dull sound.
He got lost in the rhythm for some time but got back on track almost right away, he was fairly certain that the burning skeleton was the "mungu".
But the mungu was a children story on ehetria, why was it here ?
How was it even real ?
All of these questions plagued his mind that was already barely holding on by a tether, by a small rope dangling from a tree trunk that was about to break, causing him to fall down into a fiery abyss that devoured everything.
Added onto all of that he had lost his dimensional bag.
His heart truly ached at the loss of all his artifacts, mostly ujos, all the materials, the magical metal that had come out of the body of the harpy king....
Luckily Cades could still remember the story of the mungu, the story of the accursed king, the story that related to the being known as the "mungu", the being that had probably put him here, if there was even a here.
