Chapter 56 - Manug(5)

The figure of the archer that was now leaning over, sitting on its spread out legs and having an arched back, facing towards the ground quickly moved, as if a lightning bolt struck it and finally the mysterious archer lifted his face, panic written all over his body, clearly visible although that very same body was concealed for the most part.

However, after the archer finally began realizing where he was he looked at the ground and his elegant eyes slowly moved upwards, his face following, finally meeting the burning gaze coming out of the violently burning purple eyes that resided in a cave of a sunken, dark sack of skin that Cades had worn on his face for months on end now.

Finally, the thin lips of the archer betrayed his stress and he began quickly breathing, still staring at the relentless gaze of the unknown monster in front of him.

The eyes of the archer were elegant, thin and resembled crescent moon with both sides slowly hidden, it was surreal and even more so in the act of describing it, the eyes that were now meeting Cades violent gaze and failing in resisting that very gaze were of a beautiful golden colour that permeated his eyes entirely, with barely any white able to be seen on the sides.

Cades had already expected something like this, the uncanny feeling that had been radiating from the entrancing archer for all this time had already made him believe that it was something else, that there was something more wrong with that being, and indeed there was.

But he shouldn't be one to talk, after all violet eyes weren't exactly normal either.

However, he could feel something else about that golden colour, something that moved deep, deep within the back of his mind.

And finally he remembered it, that golden shine, that golden glint was of the very same constitution as that of the light that had moved into his body once he had slain the demon of the forsaken, the living artifact that had controlled countless domineering golems to fight against him.

Cades instinctively moved his hands towards his right ear, trying to feel his earring, the artifact he had made for that fight, and luckily he felt that it hadn't been ripped off, but there was nothing remaining, it had been destroyed by the constant pressure from the fighting and part of it had simply fallen off.

But that movement seemed to absolve the tension that had been building itself up at a surprisingly great speed and the archer, still with his golden eyes and entrancing quality to the rest of his face, let out a heavy breath and said something aloud for the first time in what seemed like an eternity to Cades.

"Who are you ?"

The voice that now resounded was quite weird, he could hear the underlying language, a high-pitched murmuring that was as if the archer was talking with something else in his mouth and congruently gurgling, with the gurgling oftentimes simply stopping and starting again, probably signifying different meanings respectively.

But over that underlying voice he could understand.

Maybe that was part of the archers power, Cades assumed, but it didn't seem as if the archer was in the state of the mind to do that, so he didn't believe that.

However, deciding not to torture the archer by waiting for too long before answering, he began his answer, inwardly praying that this weird phenomenon would also work in the opposite way and that the archer would be able to understand him.

He finally opened his mouth, ripping apart his lips and causing them, who hadn't touched water in a long time, not because he didn't have access, no he could summon it, but because he forgot, to start bleeding and finally he began talking in a hoarse, high-pitched voice that he himself barely recognized as a language.

It was almost as if the poison of the kurakkan was still affecting his tongue, but Cades knew that that was false, he knew that he was simply not used to moving his facial expressions, except for his eyes which he had often moved around in a hilariously panicked state.

But over that he could feel that there was something else, a different layer, one that the archer would understand, not a language, not a sound, simply a way to... transcribe his intent, to convey what he said without truly saying anything, similar to gestures, but without the bodily movement.

"Cades, what are you ?"

From the eyes of the archer he could sense that his name didn't convey any meaning to him, of course it didn't, Cades name was not known throughout everywhere or something of the likes.

But the archer, still confused but quickly regaining his concentration, the adrenaline rushing into his body and quickly starting to talk, explaining who he was, knowing that the hungry gaze of Cades, was better suited for knowledge and information, rather than it ending up because of violence or in the worst case his body, whether because of hunger or lust.

"Manug Hereio, Antria, archer of the 98th order."

Cades was surprised by the quick and decisvie answer that spurted out of the mouth of the golden-eyed archer, the mouth lined with perfect, pearly white teeth that seemed almost as if they had never touched anything that would dirty them in their lives, and the same went for the rest of the mouth, something he had indeed paid attention to, because of the incongruent way that he was understanding the archer without understanding the language.

But now he had to think about what he had said, from what he could garner the archers name was "Manug Hereio", a weird name, very exotic and from the way he heard the underlying language was speaking also exotic in their own language, similarly to Cades own name.

Cades name was always mispronounced, it was a incredibly rare name, even for an ehetrian, a race known for picking interesting names, it was always pronounced as caedies, but actually it was pronounced as kadäs.

"Antria" was probably the name of the world that the mysterious archer came from, but the real part that he was wondering about was the order-thing, so instead of guessing about it he began and asked the archer that was still warily looking at Cades, slowly gathering more and more confidence after seeing the hungry gaze of Cades waver ever so slightly.
