At first, he suspected that she might have been kidnapped, but there was nothing that could have happened and he wouldn't have known. There would have been a commotion. Or signs of a struggle from her end, but there was none in the house to indicate that she was kidnapped. Which only left one possibility, Anna left on her own. She didn't even leave a note for him. She didn't want to be found.
