Chapter 43 - New Beginning

For the first time in a while, things were… normal.

Well, as normal as it gets when reality is literally collapsing in on itself.

The battle with the Kaiju was over. The city was still standing. And for now? Everyone had gone their separate ways.

The moment the dust settled, The Seven did exactly what they do best—leave when things get complicated.

Vought had damage control to handle.

The world had seen Homelander fight alongside superheroes. Not exactly the branding Vought wanted.

Starlight had too much attention on her, and that meant more PR nightmares.

A-Train and The Deep were useless as usual.

And Homelander? Well, he was pissed.

"Bunch of cowards," Butcher muttered as they left.

Deadpool waved at them. "BYE, DISCOUNT JUSTICE LEAGUE! TRY NOT TO COMMIT WAR CRIMES ON THE WAY HOME!"

With nowhere else to go, The Boys were still crashing at Alex's place.

Harley's tiny New York apartment was now home to:

Butcher, who stole the couch as his throne.

Hughie, who was nervously trying to fix the WiFi.

Frenchie and Kimiko, who somehow found alcohol at 10 a.m.

Deadpool, who refused to leave and acted like he lived there.

Alex sighed.

"This is my life now, huh?"

Deadpool threw an arm around him.

"YUP! Welcome to the world of chaotic, underpaid protagonists!"

Alex rubbed his temples. "I don't even get paid."

"EXACTLY!"

Spider-Man: Back to Friendly Neighborhood Duties

Meanwhile, Peter Parker had barely slept.

The multiverse was still unstable, but New York? New York never changes.

Doctor Octopus tried robbing a bank. Again.

Electro blew out the power in Brooklyn. Again.

J. Jonah Jameson blamed it all on Spider-Man. Again.

Peter sighed as he swung over the city.

"Multiverse-breaking nonsense one day, fighting C-listers the next. I really need a vacation."

Over at Avengers Tower, things were slowly getting back in order.

Steve Rogers was traveling, checking in on various cities to prepare them for anything worse.

Tony Stark was locked in his lab, building a new suit. (Because, let's be honest, that's how he copes.)

Black Widow and Hawkeye were off on a secret S.H.I.E.L.D. mission. (Which probably involved assassinations and explosions.)

Thor had returned to Asgard, because if reality was breaking, he needed to check on the gods.

Everything was calm.

Which meant, inevitably…

It wouldn't last.

Alex stared at his hand.

The Infinity Gauntlet was still on him. The stones were dormant, but he could feel it—the power, the weight, the responsibility.

And the danger.

He wasn't trained for this.

He wasn't a hero.

And yet… he was stuck with it.

Butcher leaned against the doorway. "You alright, sunshine?"

Alex sighed. "I don't know what the hell I'm supposed to do."

Butcher shrugged. "Then figure it out before someone else does."

Alex looked down at the Gauntlet.

Yeah. He needed to figure this out. Fast.

Final Scene: A Shadow Over the City

Across New York, in an abandoned skyscraper…

A figure stood watching the skyline.

The lights of the city reflected in his eyes. Calculating. Waiting.

A voice spoke from the darkness behind him.

"He has the Gauntlet. You know what must be done."

The figure smiled.

"Let him have his moment. It won't last."

And just like that—

The next threat had already begun.
