Logan's POV
I got Noah to stay the night.
It was late, and he looked unsure when I asked, so I leveraged the one thing he couldn't refuse; my mother.
It wasn't technically a lie, my mother does miss him but the entire truth is that I missed him and seeing him looking so exhausted under the darkness of night did things to me.
'We must protect mate,' Fenrir rumbled.
So, I tell him the half truth and I see the exact moment when I've caught him.
"I guess," I say slowly, "we could stay the night."
I had to prep his old room before he even got upstairs. The sheets were fresh, the curtains drawn, the air clean, but the room still held a faint ghost of what it once was. His things were long gone, but when he walked in, he paused at the door frame like he was bracing for impact. I watched as his eyes swept every corner like they were reading a history book. Like they were mapping out all the places he used to be.
