FIVE YEARS LATER
NICHOLAS
My phone kept ringing, but I wasn't available to answer it at the moment. All I wanted was some time to myself. I wanted to be alone; why was that so hard to understand?
I saw another call from Cassie, reminding me of a date she had organized. I didn't need that at the moment. No matter what I said to her, she just wouldn't listen. She always did things that she thought were right for her, without considering my feelings. She didn't understand the concept of personal space.
I rolled my eyes when the call refused to stop. Eventually, I turned off my phone. I didn't need any disturbances. Everyone was getting on my nerves.
There was a knock on my door. My secretary walked in, holding an envelope. "Good day, sir," she greeted.
"Good day. What brought you here?" I asked.
"Sir, someone brought this here. They didn't leave their name or address. I was only told that everything I needed was in the letter," she explained.
