As Nicholas handed Ethan the pack, the little boy's eyes lit up. "Yay! Food!" he exclaimed, digging into the bag.
Nicholas smiled and ruffled Ethan's hair. "I got your favorite, buddy," he said.
Amber watched the exchange, feeling warmth in her chest. She couldn't help but notice the way Nicholas interacted with their son with patience, kindness, and love.
"Thanks for getting him food," she said, smiling at Nicholas.
Nicholas glanced at her, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "No problem," he said. "I figured he'd be hungry after all the excitement."
As the jet took off, Amber felt relief wash over her. She was glad they were finally on their way. The flight attendants came by to offer them drinks, and Nicholas asked for a cup of coffee. Amber opted for a glass of juice.
Emily started chatting about their plans for the trip. "We're going to have so much fun," she said. "We'll go to the beach, explore the island, and just relax."
