Chapter 5 - A New Dawn

Chapter 5: A New Dawn

Anker

She keeps her blue eyes low, as she continues to clutch that bag of hers. This close to her, I could really see how ill she looked. Even her heartbeat is low, like it's fighting to hang on to life.

"So, what will it be?"

"I…" her head rotates between the front door and the direction of the front office. "I… The office guesses."

"Wow, that is a good choice." I hold out a hand for her, but she doesn't take it. Pushing herself up to her feet . She actually wobbles a little but later steady herself.

I was actually walking a few steps behind her, and I saw the evil glares she received from Jess and the other two idiots as she entered the office…

"Take a seat." I whisper as I walk pass her. My hand grazes her lower back and she immediately tenses up.

She stood frozen to a spot. Only her eyes dart about when she shakes her head.

"You have to sit." I said with my voice a little louder.

"She doesn't have that privilege here." The blonde snaps with her lips curved up in amusement.

"Hmm, when has sitting become a privilege, if I may ask you?" I growled, wondering what else they were forcing her to do. I couldn't see any bruises on her arms, or legs, a good sign I guess, I hoped.

'It better be!' Anton paces in my head. He wanted her out of this place as much as I did.

The blonde physically recoils in her seat. Her mouth fell wide open, shocked that I had said something. "And I suggest," I looked at Jesse, you tell your mate to stay quiet and keep her mouth shut, otherwise I will shut it for her."

"Alpha Anker, you are in my own home…"

"And you want my help, right?"

The three of them were fuming. No one liked being told.what to do in their own home, yet they were doing just that to Emilia. I point to the empty chair between Anton and Albert and she finally sits down.

"Let's just get this done once," Jesse snaps. The sooner she is gone, the happier I can be."

"Hmm, have you read the contract yet? You should do so." I muse.

"I agreed that you could take her as part of our deal."

"Idiot," Anton murmurs. He knew everas well as I did that contract should be read before they are signed.

They did sign without reading and practically threw the contract back at me. "Done." Jesse mutters.

"Good, you can now get out of my house." Jesse's mate screeches.

If I had it my way, I would just take Emilia, then I wouldn't have to put up with the twats, but this way, they would not have to have to go back, even if they begged. A contract signed and sealed, agreement is agreement. After all, a contract is a contract and it was impossible for them to get out of.

Getting up on my feet, I hold out a hand to Emilia, "come, we are leaving this shit hole now before I lose my temper."

Her warm fingers slip into my hands as she rises to her feet. Her other hand clutches her bag to her chest as she walks with me to the front door. She never cared to look to even say a goodbye and that confirms everything I need to know. She hated them just as much as they hated her.

She pauses at the front door, her hand falling from mine. Her blue eyes are wide as she stares at the Ferrari.

"Come," I instruct.

Anton and Albert are standing behind her, watching her curiously.

"Is she okay?" Anton links me.

"Emilia," I stepped in front of her, but she didn't move. She seems to be staring right through me. "It's time to go."

"Okay." Her lips barely move.

Emilia takes a step forward very slowly, almost as if she is in slow motion. Her hands gripped the door frame. Her knuckles turn white as her heartbeat increases. Her lips part a little and her hand falls from the door frame just as her eyes roll to the back of her head.

"I got you." I mutter, catching her just before she hits the floor. Her entire body tenses up as I lift her up and carry her to the car. She became so weak and even lighter than I had expected. She probably did not weigh much more than a little child.

Anton and Albert, get into the car first. Albert cocks his eyebrows at me and has a smirk plastered on his face as I slide in with Emilia on my lap.

"Keep your thoughts to yourself Albert."

I held her very closely, listening to her breath and the rhythm heart as it slowed. Letting my fingers comb through her dark hairs as she becomes a little more with it.

Suddenly, she sits upright, moving away, trying to make herself as small as possible.

Deciding not to force her to do anything, I kept my eyes on my Beta and my brother, talking about what happens at the pack and the likes and consistently casting a glance over to her every so often tonmke sure she is fine.

"Come," i mutteras the Ferrari came to a stop. I decided not to wait for the driver, I came out myself. Holding a hand out for her.

"It's fine," she says at least, while glancing at the others and shuffling herself forward to open the door. She stares up at my home, gasping a little. It was definitely five times bigger than her previous home and I hope that she will be happy here. That I could provide her with a life that will be better than her last.

"Let me give you a tour." I suggest as she continues to clutch that carrier bag to her chest.

She kept mute and followed me in. I had no idea if she was listening to what I was saying or not.

"The Omegas swap out on a rotational basis. Good for the youngsters to learn some responsibilities before they get a proper job." I say to her as well as showing her the dining hall with a table long enough to fit thirty people around.

We lived through the kitchen where I pointed out a board. The wall. "If there is anything you need, you just add it to the board and it will be ordered in."

She remained mute with furrows.

Picking up a pen, I smile. It could be that she feels intimidated by me. "So, tell me, what do you need? Because there is a way you can be under my roof with just the things that are in that bag, I mean you're here to stay."

Her dazzling blue eyes darted around the room.

"Well," I asked.

Finally she spoke out. "I don't need anything." she said with her voice barely above a whisper.

Sighing, I start scribing things down. Underwear, workout clothes, jeans, dresses, shoes, anything I can think of that will cover her for a few days.

Holding the pen between my teeth, I grabbed her around the waist. My thumb meets just above her belly button andy fingers touched her spine. Fuck, she was so thin. How was she even able to be alive?

She actually looked like a young, underfed dear caught in headlights as I write her size down. She was tinier that I had thought. She was bone covered with skin. If I had moved my hand up and higher, I would have felt every rib sticking out. It sickened me, she should be strong, powerful and has Alpha blood running through her veins.

I also did see how she scrunched her face up when she saw I was measuring her. It wasn't fear, it was pain. She was hiding something under her baggy maid's dress I guess.

"I know you want to say something, so just say it and don't be scared. I'm not interested in the crap Jesse drummed into you. You don't have to wait until someone asks you a question. You are free to say what you want to say. By the way, are you injured?"

"No."

Well, I could sense a lie in her reply, because I could feel it.

She shakes her head as if it could confirm her answer and a lock of her black hair falls from the band that was supposed to be holding its back.

Emilia was going to be a tough girl to crack. A life of being starved had made her quite protective over herself. I will make Jesse pay for what he has done to her.

"Emilia, you really have to say something, you know I can not read your mind. When I mark you, at least I will know what you are feeling."

 "Mark me?"

I didn't think her eyes could get any wider.

"Yes, I will mark you."

My idea of telling her that I will mark you sent an utter shock down her spine. Her pink lips part a little as she continues to stare at me.

I'd thought she knew. I had even thought that was why she came so willingly. My Betta had kept asking me if I was certain I wanted her as my bride. There was no doubt about it, she had a strange scent, but something was luring me to her. I couldn't take my eyes off her. My wolf Anton was also going crazy for her. Frankly speaking, he hasn't said anything about her recently though. Annoyed with me for not taking her home yesterday.

"I…I don't get you. You brought me here so that you could mark me." She takes a step backwards, walking into the kitchen island. She winces a little and quickly covers up her pain, relaxing her face.

"Well, if Jesse had taken his time to read my contract, he could have discovered that you were to be my bride, and not a slave. He would also have read that, if he or his ridiculously stupid mate tried doing anything to you going forward, that pack would become mine, or rather, yours. I never bought you Emilia, you were actually destined to be mine."
