Chapter 17 - Suggestions

As Lyssandra stood there absorbing the sudden transformation in her status, her mind raced with possibilities.

The unexpected boost in her stats left her feeling both exhilarated and bewildered. She could literally feel that her body was lighter, stronger Theron, on the other hand, couldn't shake off the disbelief that had settled over him.

"Lyssandra," he said, trying to piece together what he was witnessing, "this... this is extraordinary. Your innate ability and now this system boost—are you aware of what it means?"

She looked at him, her eyes shimmering with a mix of excitement and confusion. "I-I guess? It feels different, like something's awakened within me. But it all feels so, surreal?"

Theron took a deep breath, collecting his thoughts. "Your enchantress title already gave you incredible potential, but with this boost, it seems like you're on a whole different level now. If you can harness this power wisely, it will give us a significant advantage while we make a foothold in this world. If I had to guess, you are definitely the strongest person on earth at the moment." 'Well excluding father' But he didn't tell her that.

Lyssandra nodded, digesting his words. "I want to use it to help in any way I can. To ensure we're safe and that we can all grow stronger."

Her father admired her resolve, but he couldn't ignore the weight of responsibility on her shoulders. "Just remember, strength comes with a responsibility. You must also be cautious—power, if uncontrolled, can lead to unintended consequences."

"I understand," she replied, her voice steadier now. "I want to learn how to control it."

"Good," Theron said with a slight smile. "Then we should make a plan. Let's gather everyone this evening. There's much to discuss with the newcomers, and perhaps I can help you understand your abilities better. There is a training room in the castle, I will show you to it after the meeting."

Lyssandra felt a surge of excitement. "Yes! We can go there today, I want to try out my abilities. My friends need purpose, and this community needs unity. I can help with that. "She could already imagine everything she would be able to do with her abilities, the sooner she learned to harness them, the better.

As they walked together, the atmosphere shifted from uncertainty to possibility. Lyssandra imagined a world where her friends, the villagers, and all the newcomers could thrive under a shared vision of strength and compassion.

What she did not realise was that her drive and passion was literally leaking out of her, influencing the people and surroundings around her. Theron could feel it, but he chose to keep quiet.

'The nature of her Innate ability explains the people's reactions to her appearance, beauty alone was not enough to explain her influence on people. But this can be used.' A plan was already brewing in Theron's mind, he only had to convene with his father before deciding on it.

"By the way, how does this 'system' work?" she asked, lightly nudging Theron.

He chuckled, realizing that while he possessed a depth of understanding that his daughter had not yet grasped, he had no concrete answers. "Well, it's complicated, and I'm still trying to figure it out myself. I suppose it's something we can explore together. But basically, as you can see, it describes the status of your body, your strengths, weaknesses, abilities. There is also a store where you can access written arts and techniques, and some menial necessities. There's more but it's still inaccessible."

Lyssandra beamed at him, excitement bubbling over. "Let's do it! I'm ready for whatever comes next."

As they approached the kitchen, the soft sounds of workers and the smell of rust, paint and fire filled the air. Lyssandra felt something inside her shift and solidify. like the final integration with something in her body was coming together to complete a whole. Something that had been a missing piece since the day she was born.

Theron opened the door to the kitchen, and inside was a singular middle-aged lady on the fire pit. making some food. White, short hair clipped by a pin, and a dirty apron covering her front. Serenith, Theron's sister and Lyssandra's aunt was a modest lady. Humble to a T, and kind at heart.

She smiled a beaming smile when she saw the two enter, "Hello there, please come in." She got rid of her dirty apron and invited Lyssandra into her Bossom for a hearty hug.

"What can I help you with today." They all sat on a food preparation table facing each other.

"Aunty, can I get some food for my friends, they just came in with the new arrivals."

"Sure honey, take all the food you need. They must be starving, it must have been tough for them out there." The compassion in her voice was clearly evident.

"Did your father escort you just for that, or is there something else you need Theron?" Serenith looked toward her brother, like Lyssandra, she did not take kindly to being kept in the dark about the apocalypse.

"Father would like to see everyone for a meeting later today. I'm passing the message along. "

"Is that so?"

...

It was evening. Just outside the castle grounds, in a large hall, that looked more like a mini coliseum, with a covered roof, the air was abuzz with activity.

"Tonight marks the beginning of something wondrous," Rhaenys thought, glancing sideways at Theron, who was now looking at her with a mix of caution and uncertainty. "And I won't let fear stop us."

Among all the members of their large family, Rhaenys was one of the few he could not get a clear read on. The woman was scheming and calculative and always blabbering about things he could not understand. He did not like that, but they were family first and foremost so he would live.

Rhaenys was Theron's nephew. She was in her late twenties but actually looked like a woman in her early twenties.

She took on the role of accompanying Theron to the coliseum today. They entered the hall, ready to get started on establishing a secure hierarchy in their fortress and lead their new community toward a brighter future. Well somewhat.

As Rhaenys and Theron entered the main hall, the vibrant energy of the ongoing preparations enveloped them. People bustled about, carrying supplies, setting tables, and organizing sitting areas. The air was thick with anticipation for the evening's gathering, and that buzz resonated deeply within them.

Having hone back to talk with his father about Lyssandra's status, Talon had been ecstatic, finding out that his daughter was a once in a lifetime talent, Talon decided to change all his plans, rather than placing his hopes in Theron, who had above average stats, they both agreed that it was better to place their bets on Lyssandra. The older members of the family had been present during this discussion, and not everyone was pleased.

To let her grow, guide her path, and pour resources into her progression. This meeting was the starting point. They would let her lead the discussion, and with that, maybe one day she would become their leading force. Talon knew more than anyone else how savage the world outside of earth could be, and having a powerhouse to weather some of that savagery would be helpful.

Lyssandra was seated far across the hall, near her grandfather, who was already present. His eyes closed, presence completely withdrawn. He looked like any other old men on the brink of death. Lyssandra sat quietly, looking around for her friends, who were nowhere to be found. He seemed to be taking letting his offspring take reigns to the next level.

Lyssandra spotted familiar faces as well: family members she'd grown up alongside, neighbours who had weathered storms with her family. Each interaction seemed to solidify her resolve further. This place was not just a castle—it was a refuge, a budding community filled with hope.

Lyssandra felt a mix of nostalgia and determination wash over her. Each familiar face reminded her of the connections that tied them together, a tapestry of shared blood and distant accomplices.

The thought of strengthening these bonds in light of their newfound challenges fuelled her ambition. Even though she was kind of surprised to be placed in charge, she took it in stride, this was an opportunity to do things how she wanted.

Rhaenys noticed Lyssandra's pensive gaze and leaned closer to Theron, her voice low. "She seems deep in thought. Do you think she fully understands the weight of what's about to happen?"

Theron responded, his expression thoughtful. "Maybe not entirely, but she has a strong spirit. I believe she's ready to embrace her role as a leader, even if she doesn't see herself as one yet. The more we can support her, the better we can cultivate this community."

Rhaenys nodded, a hint of approval in her eyes. "Just make sure she doesn't get overwhelmed. Leadership is a double-edged sword; it can inspire or crush. Let her shine, but keep an eye on those who may not have her best interests at heart."

Meanwhile, Lyssandra's grandfather stirred slightly, his eyes fluttering open. He looked at Lyssandra with a knowing expression, as if he sensed the transformation within her. "Child," he said, his voice a rasp, "you have the fire of leadership in your heart. But remember, the strongest flames can also bring the greatest destruction. Nurture it wisely."

Feeling his gaze upon her, Lyssandra leaned in closer. "Grandfather, I want to do right by everyone. How can I ensure I lead us efficiently and rightly?"

His weathered hands clasped hers. "Listen, observe, and learn from those around you. Everyone carries a piece of the puzzle. You may hold the power, but it's the connections forged with others that will build the greatest strength. And above all, trust your instincts. Every elder in the family will guide you through the process."

Just then, Theron and Rhaenys approached, their presence pulling Lyssandra from her thoughts. Theron gestured to the gathering crowd with an encouraging smile. "It's time. Are you ready to address everyone?"

Lyssandra took a deep breath, her excitement building, "I am. I want them to know they're not alone anymore. We'll work together to create something amazing."

As they approached the front of the hall, the murmurs quieted, expectations hanging in the air. Lyssandra stood before the diverse crowd—familiar faces intermingling with newcomers from different places—each heart full of hope and uncertainty.

"Thank you all for gathering tonight," she began, her voice steady despite the fluttering within her. "We are here not just to face the challenges of this new world, but to rise as a community. You are all part of this journey, and together, we will forge a path to safety and strength."

A wave of dissatisfaction surged through the crowd as they listened intently. Some of them felt dissatisfied, a teenager was posted to address them on matters regarding their survival. 'No' They would not accept this.

The murmurs of discontent rippled through the hall, and Lyssandra could sense the shift in energy. Her heart raced as she scanned the crowd, noticing the furrowed brows and crossed arms that signalled scepticism.

Taking a deep breath, she refused to let fear deter her. "I understand your reservations," she continued, her voice carrying a mixture of vulnerability and determination. "I may be young, but I believe in the strength of this community. My abilities might grant me power, but my heart is devoted to serving all of you."

A voice rose from the back, a man's tone dripping with condescension. "What makes you think you're qualified to lead us? You're just a girl with a spark. We've faced real hardships; we need experience, not dreams."

Lyssandra felt her stomach clench, but she would not back down. "I may not have your years of experience, but I carry the weight of those who trust me. I want to learn from each of you — your stories, your strengths, and your wisdom. We all have a role to play in this fight for survival."

The crowd simmered, and a few murmurs of agreement began to appear, but the scepticism lingered.

Feeling the need to address their concerns, she reached into her own feelings of uncertainty and spoke from the heart. "I might not have all the answers right now, but I promise you this—I will not lead us blindly. We can build a structure for decision-making and draw upon the skills of all of you. This should not be about hierarchy but collaboration."

"And what do you propose?" another voice chimed in, a hint of challenge in their tone.

Lyssandra seized the moment, undeterred. "Let's gather our strengths. I want to create working groups based on skills and experiences. Together, we can strategize ways to fortify our defences, gather resources, and learn from one another. I aim to facilitate discussions—not dictate them."

Lyssandra felt her innate ability begin to shine, radiating warmth and determination. With each word, she drew upon her senses, allowing her presence to resonate with those around her.

Theron exchanged a glimmer of pride with Rhaenys, both realizing the power of Lyssandra's influence. Just as the warmth of her spirit enveloped the room, they also noticed a few sceptical expressions, change to faces that looked reassured.

Lyssandra continued, undeterred. "I have recently discovered strength within myself—a strength I wish to share with all of you. Together, we can train, learn, and grow stronger. Let's be the beacon of hope we need in this dark world."

As she spoke, she made eye contact with those who seemed hesitantly drawn to her words, her unwavering resolve awakening something within them. "Let's work as one family to overcome any obstacles we face. Unity is our greatest weapon."

The energy in the hall shifted as applause erupted. Lyssandra's heart swelled as newfound purpose ignited the room—a renewed sense of hope rising from the ashes of despair.

...

"Her ability is very dangerous it seems." Rhaenys spoke as a matter of fact, a frown marring her face. "I can even feel it gnawing at my conscience, it makes me feel, uncomfortable..." Theron simply nodded, deciding not to comment. Lyssandra's speech went on, drawing people's hearts and imprinting suggestions into their minds without even knowing it.

"And with the training areas around the castle, we will develop our skills, tackle our fears, and learn to support each other," she added, her gaze sweeping across her family, friends, and unknown people alike.

...

The gathering gradually wound down, Theron approached her once more, a thoughtful look on his face. "Your leadership is shining through, Lyssandra. But remember, with great promise comes the need for balance. You must also care for yourself in this."

She smiled back, the steadfastness of her determination in her eyes. "I will, Father. But this feels right. I want to help carry everyone's burdens."

"A noble sentiment, my dear," he said, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Just ensure you allow others to help carry yours in return. Now, let's prepare...

...

In a corner, in the hall, a young man, in his late teens stood quietly, arms cross, and face twisted in anger. He was absolutely seething. 'How did she get ahead of me!!! how the fuck did she suddenly get everyone to side with her!!!'
