"Solar Beam!"
"Thunder!"
"Hammer Arm!"
"Gabite, go wild!"
"GAAAAAA!"
The moment Paul gave his command, Electabuzz shot into the air, unleashing a torrential storm of lightning. The electric web spread across the sky, crackling with overwhelming power as it bore down upon the swarm of Crobat.
Boosted by its Vital Spirit, Electabuzz's attack was not only massive in scale but also devastatingly powerful. The Crobat had no room to evade.
Realizing this, the Crobat resorted to Air Slash, whipping up razor-sharp wind blades in an attempt to disrupt the electric web.
Boom! Boom!
Explosions erupted one after another, but the Air Slashes failed to neutralize the attack.
The lightning struck.
Brilliant arcs of electricity illuminated the battlefield as the Crobat screeched in agony before dropping from the sky, their bodies twitching before they all fainted.
"What?! How is it this strong?!"
The hunters were in utter disbelief.
The Electabuzz they had in their records was nowhere near this powerful!
But they had no time to dwell on it—Paul's other Pokémon were already launching their attacks. The hunters barely managed to leap aside as the assault rained down upon them.
Shing!
The Solar Beam tore through the spot they had just vacated, slamming into one of their armored trucks.
Boom!
A deafening explosion erupted, sending metal debris flying as the vehicle was instantly rendered useless.
"Ursaring, Gabite, attack!"
"Ursaaaa!"
"Gaaaaaa!"
The massive figures of Ursaring and Gabite surged forward like an unstoppable tidal wave, ruthlessly striking at the hunters.
A single Hammer Arm, a single Dragon Claw—two hunters were sent flying, slamming into the ground with a sickening thud before losing consciousness.
Gabite, still in its Outrage-fueled frenzy, turned its gaze toward its next prey. Without hesitation, it lunged forward, its claws gleaming with another Dragon Claw, striking yet another hunter.
In its uncontrollable state, Gabite no longer distinguished between human and Pokémon—it only saw threats, enemies to be eliminated.
If it could attack, it would destroy.
One after another, the hunters fell to the ground, groaning in pain. Some looked particularly miserable, bloodied and barely clinging to consciousness.
"Grrrrr!"
Seeing this, the other Pokémon that had initially intended to pursue the remaining enemies hesitated, turning their gazes toward Paul instead.
"Grotle, keep an eye on Gabite. Try to make sure it doesn't kill anyone. If it still needs to let off steam, you'll be its sparring partner."
"Grrrr!"
Grotle nodded seriously, accepting the responsibility of keeping Gabite in check.
The Pokémon world may appear peaceful on the surface, but true stability was an illusion. Without a unified governing force, it was far less secure than Paul's previous world. Criminal organizations and villainous groups lurked in the shadows, preying upon the weak.
Because of this, there were far fewer restrictions on punishing evildoers.
In fact, accidentally injuring, crippling, or even killing criminals rarely carried any legal consequences. Sometimes, such actions were even rewarded.
Paul had no sympathy for these hunters.
"Ursaring, Electabuzz, leave one truck intact. Destroy the rest. Then tie up the hunters and throw them into the remaining vehicle."
"Ursaaa!"
"Buuuuzzz!"
The two Pokémon got to work.
Electabuzz fried the internal circuitry of one truck with a high-voltage blast, while Ursaring crushed another with a devastating Hammer Arm. Within moments, only one operational armored truck remained.
As for tying up the hunters?
"Ursaaa?"
There were no ropes, and Ursaring's large paws weren't exactly suited for delicate binding.
Smack!
"Buzzz!"
Electabuzz smacked Ursaring on the head and pointed at the hunters' clothes.
Why worry about ropes?
Just tear their clothes into strips and use those!
"Ursaaaa."
Ursaring's lips curled into a cruel grin as it extended its razor-sharp claws.
With one swift motion, it shredded every hunter's clothing into rags and handed the makeshift bindings to Electabuzz, who efficiently tied them up.
Paul, meanwhile, wasn't just standing idly by.
After recalling the hunters' Pokémon, he confiscated their Poké Balls and any unfamiliar devices, tossing them into a pile.
When he turned back, he was greeted by the sight of battered, bruised, and now nearly naked hunters, tied up and helpless.
"A warrior can die, but they must not be humiliated."
For a brief moment, Paul considered sparing them at least their undergarments, preserving a shred of dignity.
But then he scoffed.
These people weren't even worth calling "human." They were scum.
They had already thrown away their dignity the moment they chose this path.
If they had no shame left, why bother with clothes? So, he let it be.
"Throw them in the truck."
With that order, Paul withdrew Grotle and the still-raging Gabite into their Poké Balls.
"Gabite, the situation is special. Return for now and focus on regaining control of your power."
"Gaaaa!"
"Buzzz!"
Electabuzz and Ursaring wasted no time.
Grabbing the bound hunters, they unceremoniously hurled them into the truck. There was no need for finesse—just brute force.
Before long, the job was done.
Paul recalled Ursaring, then climbed into the driver's seat with Electabuzz beside him.
This type of hunter-modified armored truck wasn't something he was trained to operate, but ignoring all the extra features, basic driving wasn't an issue.
After determining his direction, he sped toward the nearest city.
He knew this group wasn't the only threat.
Most likely, they were just scouts, unfortunate enough to run into his newly-empowered Pokémon.
"Thirteen, report. What's the situation?"
Partway through his drive, a cold female voice crackled through the truck's speakers.
"Buzzz?!"
Electabuzz startled, glancing around before spotting the source—a set of radio speakers.
Paul gestured.
Without hesitation, Electabuzz destroyed them.
With one hand on the wheel, Paul calmly pulled out his phone and dialed the authorities.
"Hello, this is Officer Jenny. What's the emergency?"
"Officer Jenny, I was attacked by Pokémon Hunters."
"What?! Hunters?! Where are you? How many? I'll dispatch officers immediately!"
"About seven or eight of them. Possibly affiliated with Hunter J. They tried to steal my Pokémon."
Paul couldn't be certain if they were truly under Hunter J, but when in doubt, it was always better to report the worst-case scenario.
"Hunter J?! Understood! Stay safe—I'm mobilizing units now! Keep your phone on, I'm activating location tracking!"
"Got it, Officer Jenny."
A moment of silence, then Officer Jenny's voice returned.
"Remain calm and hold out. According to your coordinates, head toward Lake Valor—we have officers on route."
Calm?
Paul glanced at the bound, battered hunters stacked in the back of the truck.
In a perfectly neutral tone, he replied, "Understood."
"…Wait. Your background noise is too quiet—just wind. Can you describe your situation?"
Something wasn't right.
A hunter attack should be chaotic, but Paul sounded far too composed.
And why was his location moving so fast?
"There were about six or seven hunters and a swarm of Crobat. They're all unconscious with severe injuries. I'm currently driving their truck toward Lake Valor."
"…Please ensure you—wait, what???"
Officer Jenny's brain short-circuited.
So, he already won and then called the cops?!
Does this kid not trust the police?
"Electabuzz, charge up. Get ready to—"
The call abruptly cut off.
"Hello? Hello?!"
Officer Jenny shouted, but the line was dead.
She turned to her team.
"Tell Officer Maylene to hurry up! We need to move—now!"
"Understood!"
