Chapter 16 - Chapter 16 :The Truth Beneath The Surface

Igetis in the trees he said and, a sly smile tugging at his lips. "Why you avoid me, Anazitis?" he asked, voice calm but cutting. "You sent a magical bird message… and tried to use this magical mirror to contact me. Did you really think I wouldn't figure out who sent it — or why?"

Anazitis' expression faltered. Where did it go wrong? he thought.

Igetis chuckled softly. "There are still so many things you need to discover," he continued.

"But smooth-talking your way out of this won't help."

Anazitis shifted uncomfortably. "I just wanted to explain things first," he said, his voice hesitant. "Then we could talk about what happened… and how we can help each other."

"Like always," Igetis said with a smirk. "Smooth talker."

But how…? Anazitis thought, his mind racing how did he.

The Message

earlier, in Igetis' office, a bird had appeared out of thin air. Its wings beat slowly, silently, as it perched on his outstretched hand. It carried nothing but an empty piece of parchment.

Igetis raised a brow. "Strange…"

As he watched, dark ink bled across the paper, forming words with elegant precision. His expression darkened.

I've discovered the truth about the city, the sages, and all the hidden things you tried to keep from me.

The message ended without a name — but Igetis already had his suspicions.

A Change of Form

Igetis stood, pulling a golden ring from the folds of his robe. "I need to see who sent this… and I know exactly who can tell me she knows ."

The moment he slid the Shapeless Ring onto his finger, his body began to shift. His tall, imposing frame shrank. His sunlit hair darkened to the color of night, and his eyes turned into bottomless pools of black. His voice dropped to something softer — younger.

He pulled a small mirror from his pocket. As it expanded to his full height, two faces flickered into view.

"Theo. Evangeline," he said.

Theo blinked in shock. "That mirror… it belongs to Mister Igetis. But how—?"

"It's me, Theo," Igetis said in his altered voice. "Using the Shapeless Ring."

Theo and Evangeline stepped through the mirror and into the office.

"Take my place," Igetis ordered. "Theo, wear the ring. Take my shape. And don't leave the office i need to go and see something."

Evangeline crossed her arms. "I want to go with you. It'll be a great adventure."

"You're staying here," Igetis said firmly. "And please Make sure Theo doesn't make a mess of things like last time. I trust you to do that igetis said again please don't let Theo failed."

Evangeline smirked. "No need to worry. Last time, I wasn't with him. Now I am everything well go smoothly."

Theo shot her a glance. "You're never going to let that go, are you?"

"You went to the academy cafeteria wearing the Shapeless Ring and you eat for free igetis always pay and act cool with other… at the same time Igetis was sick and didn't go to an important meeting you khow what that's means did you forget they thought he was shirking his duties."

Theo sighed. "I embarrassed him. I know. But this time it's different."

Evangeline smiled. "Because I'm here."

A knock interrupted them.

"Come in," Theo called, his voice now identical to Igetis'.

A middle-aged knight entered, holding a stack of papers. "The report you asked for, sir."

Theo nodded. "Leave it on the desk."

As the knight left, his eyes lingered on Evangeline. She wasn't here last time… Something feels off, he thought maybe the two of them are that fun to tell i go and sell this information i make fortune from selling personal information about the khinght.

The Mermaid's Domain

Meanwhile, Igetis emerged on the outskirts of the city, near the shimmering surface of the lake.he put a blindfold on his eyes and,He removed his boots and stepped into the water, letting the cold wash over his feet and he kept walking.

"If you want to reach unknown destination…" he whispered. "You have to get lost first."

With slow, deliberate steps, he walked deeper until the water swallowed him whole.

Beneath the surface, the lake unfolded into a world of wonder a wonderful world under the sea the blue water and the unknown sea plants .The water shimmered with gold and sapphire hues. Coral reefs twisted through the ocean floor, ancient ruins scattered among them. Fish darted through stone pillars where statues once stood proud.

In the distance, a bubble pulsed with light — a house resting in the heart of the sea and igetis enter the bubble and breathe his air.

As Igetis approached, a voice echoed through the water. "Why can't you ever let's me visit you in a normal way siren ?"

A figure emerged from the shadows. The mermaid Siren, her dark eyes shining like polished onyx , skin pale as snow, and white hair flowing like silk in the current.

Siren smiled. "Where's the joy in the normal ways ?"

Siren said so why you hear igetis you not her just to drink tea

Igetis said on a smile on his face can't i visit a friend and drink some tea.

She raised an eyebrow. "You're here for a joy. In the middle of the day while the sages are watching you."

Igetis chuckled. "Clever as always." He handed her the letter. "I need to know who sent this."

And both of them walk to the house and igetis said so you learn how to walk on your feet using your legs

Siren said on a smile on her face practice

And igetis think after he heard the word practice you spend your days in sleeping and watching fish race

And I can see your feet shake when you move

Siren said did you said something

After they arrive in the house

Siren took the letter, pressing it against a crystal. The water around it rippled as a faint voice whispered from within.

"Anazitis," Siren said calmly.

Igetis sighed. "It's been a while since I last saw him… and now he sends me a letter in the shadiest way possible."

"You seem surprised," Siren teased. "You know him well enough to expect this."

"I do," Igetis admitted. "But how could he have discovered this much information?"

Siren smirked. "You underestimate how much a determined person can uncover. Sometimes it's luck. Sometimes it's persistence. How do you think I learned the truth about the city?"

"You've lived long enough to have all the time in the world to discover it and you didn't discovered it earlier."

She laughed softly. "And you need to swim more. You're out of practice. Good bye"

Before Igetis could respond, the ground shifted. The next thing he knew, the sea had swallowed him again.

He surfaced, gasping for breath. "She could've just… transported me properly," he muttered.

Back in the forest

At that moment, Anazitis sat in silence, his mind racing. How does he know it was me?

A voice echoed in his thoughts. "I have my ways," Igetis said as he approached. "And the others are waiting for us."

Halfy forced a smile. "You haven't changed a bit igetis."

Lion, standing nearby, grinned. "We should've just contacted him normally."

Halfy shrugged but you know someone just said. "Where's the joy in normal?" It's not our fault

Anazitis said you two didn't think a bit to sell me
