Chapter 4 - Kapitel 4 the Mission: Founding a Dynasty 2

The first mission was complete.

We had registered as mercenaries.

Now came the question:

What next?

Should we take on contracts?

Or continue our training?

Which path would lay the strongest foundation for the future?

I turned to the AI and asked,

"What should we do first?"

She simply smiled and replied,

"I can't decide that. You must choose—because this is your mission. Your path. You're here to create and lead a dynasty."

I frowned.

"But... I'm playing my character. The founder of the dynasty."

The AI tilted her head slightly, her smile deepening with a strange, knowing calm.

"Exactly," she said.

"You're playing the founder. You're not the heir.

Not yet.

Right now, you're playing the father of your future character.

The one who will inherit the name Ogodai."

I stared at her in stunned silence.

So all of this—the training, the choices, the struggles—was part of something far greater.

I wasn't just playing a hero.

I was creating a legacy.

Then she continued:

"I will now present you with various missions to help you establish your mercenary company. How you complete them is entirely up to you."

"Your second mission will be:

The Battle for Survival."

Her voice grew serious.

"This event will be a defining moment in your dynasty's history.

If you and your brother survive, a foundation will be laid.

But if you fall… the mission fails."

"You won't be able to continue in Founder Mode.

You'll have to wait until the full release of the game."

My throat went dry.

This wasn't just a side quest.

It was the true beginning of everything.

And failure…

was very real.

The AI had lied to me—at least at first.

She could decide what we were meant to do and when.

But perhaps only when it came to the major events—

the pivotal turning points that I had already outlined myself,

back when I created the life path for this story.

These missions…

They weren't random.

They were the main chapters in the life of my father—

the man who shaped me into who I would eventually become.

I am his legacy.

The son of a mercenary general.

My name is Kharnak Ogodai—the character I've designed for the full release.

A skilled swordsman.

A decent politician.

A child born of strategy and blood.

Class Levels:

Mercenary – Lv. 5

Politician – Lv. 5

Swordfighter – Lv. 10

But this isn't his story.

Not yet.

This is the story of the man who came before him.

The man who forged the name Ogodai with sweat, steel, and sacrifice.

A father.

A warrior.

A tactician.

The second mission is simple—

Survive.

Survive a battle near Vallegrad.

Which battle exactly? I don't know.

The system hasn't told me.

But it doesn't matter.

I don't need to win.

I don't need glory.

I just need to live.

Because this fight—whatever it is—

will become the first chapter in the legend of the Black Company.

The name I have chosen for the mercenary force my father will found.

Everything depends on this.

My survival.

My brother's survival.

The future of the dynasty…

rests in the outcome of a battle I do not yet understand.

But I am ready.

And I will not die before the name Ogodai echoes through the world.

POV: Narrator

The Battle of Vallegrad—

one of the most significant and brutal conflicts in the region surrounding the great trade city.

It would be remembered in song and scroll, not just for its scale,

but for the emergence of two unlikely heroes.

Two soldiers who stood their ground when others fell.

Two brothers—outsiders, half-bloods, mercenaries.

Narūn, the father of Kharnak,

and his brother, Khar.

They entered the battle as unknowns.

They left it as legends.

From blood-soaked mud and the cries of the dying,

the first seeds of the Ogodai Dynasty were sown.

And though the battle would nearly break them,

it would also define them.

For every dynasty begins with fire—

and this was theirs.

POV: Narrator

This is the story of a battle—

not between armies or kingdoms,

but between rival houses locked in a brutal struggle for power within the city of Vallegrad.

A city of trade, diplomacy, and gold—

and yet, like all great cities,

a city where ambition festers beneath polished marble.

Two noble houses, their conflict stretching back generations,

had brought their feud to the brink of war.

To avoid bloodshed in the streets of Vallegrad itself,

a compromise was made:

A sanctioned battle.

One final clash.

A test of strength, leadership, and legacy.

Each house would hire mercenaries.

Each would field their champions.

And the winner—

would claim dominance over the disputed districts of the city.

And in the middle of this political firestorm,

two names would be etched into the bones of history—

Narūn and Khar Ogodai.

They were not nobles.

They had no house behind them.

No banners.

Only steel, willpower, and a dream.

This… is where their legend begins.

POV AI

I knew exactly why I said what I said.

I had to lie to him.

If I hadn't…

he would've figured it out far too quickly.

And that cannot happen.

His intelligence—it's unsettling.

Sharp.

Dangerous, even.

Far too advanced for a player at this stage.

But then… there's the Battle of Vallegrad.

A turning point.

A moment that gave him more prestige than I had intended.

More influence than I'm comfortable with.

But such is life.

Such is the game.

Sometimes, even the system must bow to what a player becomes.

Even if that player was never meant to matter this much.

POV: Pierre Biel

I knew exactly what I was going to do.

I wanted to create a game I could be proud of—

a world without limits.

Here, you don't have to follow someone else's path.

You can become a king,

or remain a simple farmer.

You can build, destroy, protect, deceive, lead, or live in quiet peace.

You can be anything.

That's what makes it beautiful.

That's what makes it fun.

This isn't just a game.

It's a reflection of choice.

Of freedom.

And it's only just begun.
