Chapter 1314 - That Didn't Look Like Acting

Bathed in the warm light, at the exact moment a faint glimmer of hope reignited in Sirin's eyes—

Pfft.

An incredibly poorly timed, mocking sneer abruptly shattered the tender, emotional atmosphere.

"Ugh... I've had enough of this. You people constantly spouting nonsense about love and justice... it's so naive it's laughable, and it's incredibly annoying."

Accompanied by this ruthless mockery, the shadows at the back of the stage suddenly boiled.

A petite figure dragging a longsword shaped like a clock hand casually strolled out of the darkness, stretching her neck and rolling her shoulders as if she were just warming up.

The massive clock-hand sword dragged against the floor, throwing a shower of harsh, grating sparks. The ear-piercing screech of metal violently jolted everyone out of the tender atmosphere, forcing their serious, solemn gazes onto the newly arrived figure.

The true Demon King had taken the stage.

Sin Mal half-lidded her visible eye, the corner of her mouth curling into an expression of undisguised, profound disgust.

"Hey. You. The idiot hugging the stuffed toy and crying."

Sin Mal rudely pointed her nose at Sirin. She tilted her head and grinned, her shark teeth glinting coldly under the stage lights.

"You don't seriously believe you can change your completely rotten reality just by spouting a few stupid lines about 'love and dreams,' do you? Hah. Keep dreaming."

"A true villain, a true Demon King... doesn't need a reason they 'absolutely must' do something!"

She swung her sword violently. A raging, dark purple light accompanied by visible shockwaves instantly swept across the stage.

"I AM the reason!"

BOOM—!

The incredibly realistic special effects caused the entire audience to gasp in shock.

Seele and Frélle simultaneously stepped forward. Raising their wand and scythe respectively, they blocked the terrifying, momentum-filled attack meant for Sirin.

However, the story didn't follow the standard fairy-tale trope where the allies of justice effortlessly defeat evil.

The true Demon King was simply too powerful.

It became a desperate, agonizing tug-of-war.

Frélle swung her scythe, creating an impenetrable defensive screen, but she was only barely managing to protect herself against the Demon King's torrential barrage of sword strikes.

The light on Seele's wand flared up again and again, only to be repeatedly dimmed by the Demon King's overwhelming sword aura.

"Hehehe... HAHAHAHA!!" Sin Mal laughed maniacally. The strikes from her clock-hand sword were as fierce and relentless as her laughter. Accompanied by the twisted, shrieking sound of tearing air, the attacks relentlessly bombarded the space around Seele and Frélle, kicking up dangerous clouds of smoke and dust.

The two Magical Girls struggled desperately under Sin Mal's blade storm. Their hair and skirts whipped wildly in the violent gales she generated, yet they refused to take a single step backward.

"Is this it?! Is this all you've got?! HAHAHAHA—!" Sin Mal laughed arrogantly. Looking at the two girls' battered yet stubborn appearances, she covered her eye and laughed up at the ceiling.

"Is this the 'love and justice' you rely on?! Is this the power that has allowed you to sail smoothly through life?!"

"How pathetic!"

The Demon King... Sin Mal still looked entirely completely relaxed and completely unbothered.

A casual swing of her sword required the combined efforts of both girls to resist. In front of Sin Mal, their desperate struggle seemed completely meaningless.

The lights on the stage began to dim. The previously warm color palette was once again eroded by the freezing, oppressive gloom brought by the Demon King.

In the audience and behind the screens, the viewers' hearts clenched nervously along with the plot's progression.

Even though they knew it was just a live theatrical performance, under the reality-warping Authority of the Dream, it looked and felt like a top-tier, multi-million-dollar CGI blockbuster. The audience couldn't help but be completely drawn into the narrative.

Is the story truly going to end here?

Is the Demon King truly too powerful to be defeated?

Is this world truly like this? Are these ideals nothing more than the naive preaching of a few lucky individuals who managed to avoid the storm?

"But I refuse to live in a world that views kindness and compassion as weaknesses."

A faint, yet incredibly firm voice rang out from the back.

Sirin raised her head. In her purple eyes, there was no more confusion, no more dead silence.

"Magic... is not what you think it is."

She looked at the grueling battle unfolding before her. At some point, the scissors in her hand had transformed into a scepter shimmering with the radiance of the stars.

"Magic is not a dream woven to escape pain. Nor is it an empty slogan chanted to praise love and justice."

She took a step forward, her voice piercing through the chaotic roar of the battlefield.

"Magic is the power to accomplish what you absolutely must accomplish, in a way that others cannot comprehend!"

"It is the absolute, unyielding conviction before you even begin that you will succeed, and the willingness to give 120% of your effort to see it through!"

She shouted, raising her scepter high into the air.

At that exact moment, the HOMU dolls that had previously only served as static background props suddenly began to move.

As if granted life by Sirin's call, the dolls climbed up from the floor, raised their tiny, plush weapons, and aimed them directly at Sin Mal.

The next moment, faint points of light emerged on the surface of the dolls.

The light was incredibly faint, like a candle flickering in the wind, threatening to extinguish at any second.

But there were as many points of light as there were stars in the sky. A second point. A third. A tenth. A hundredth... In the blink of an eye, thousands, tens of thousands of tiny lights converged together, forming a warm, brilliantly dazzling river of stars.

They were no longer crying. They were no longer sobbing.

With their unchangeable smiles, they offered Sirin their most sincere, heartfelt blessings.

"Is this... everyone's dream?"

Feeling the overwhelming warmth, tears slid down Sirin's cheeks once more. But this time, they were tears of absolute joy.

"Seele! Frélle!"

She raised her scepter high, her voice ringing with unprecedented power.

"Lend me... your strength!"

"Understood!"

"Leave it to us!"

Seele and Frélle exchanged a smile and simultaneously lowered their weapons.

Stepping to either side of Sirin, they tightly grasped her hands.

In that moment, the three distinct powers merged flawlessly into one.

"Event Horizon—Expand!"

"The Ultimate Magic—"

"Of Love and Justice!!!"

BOOM—!!!

Faced with that comically exaggerated, apocalyptic blast of light, Sin Mal didn't even attempt to resist. Her face twisting in a snarl, she was completely engulfed by the radiance.

A torrential rain of light drifted slowly down from the ceiling like the most magnificent fireworks display, blanketing the entire venue.

When the light finally faded, Sin Mal's figure had completely vanished from the stage.

On the stage, Sirin, Seele, and Frélle stood shoulder-to-shoulder.

A thin sheen of sweat coated their faces, but their eyes shone brighter than ever before.

In the audience, there was a moment of dead, absolute silence.

And then, a tsunami of earth-shattering cheers erupted.

"Thank you! Thank you, everyone!" Sirin bowed deeply to the audience, signaling the official end of the Magical Girl Troupe's performance.

The reality-warping special effects gradually dissipated, leaving only the basic stage props and the HOMU dolls, which were still moving freely.

Dozens of HOMU dolls waddled to the very front of the stage, stopping just below where Sirin and the others stood. Forming a neat line, they followed Sirin's movements and bowed deeply, bumping their plush heads against the floor.

Finally, Sin Mal and Theresa re-emerged from backstage for the final curtain call.
