Chapter 104 - Chapter 104: Love Me Once More

'Look at him! Sarutobi Hiruzen, that despicable man.'

Danzo seethed inwardly, consumed by bitterness. Once again, Hiruzen had managed to curry favor with their teacher using his faux-compassionate façade. Why is it always him? Danzo thought, gnashing his teeth.

But he said nothing aloud.

Senju Tobirama was a man whose decisions were absolute. If Danzo dared to argue, he knew the consequences. Tobirama would likely deny him even the smallest chance of becoming Hokage in the future. All Danzo could do was silently endure the sting of humiliation.

"If only I had pretended to consider things more carefully before making a decision, maybe Sensei wouldn't think I'm so rash," Danzo mused bitterly. "Curse you, Sarutobi Hiruzen!"

He silently added another tally to the long list of grudges he held against his rival.

Returning to the matter at hand, Tobirama turned to his gathered students.

"Enough with the sorrow. If I don't make it back, Hiruzen, you will assume the role of the Third Hokage. Understood?"

This statement caused Danzo to clench his fists. But none of the students dared to question their teacher's authority.

"Yes, Sensei. I will honor your will," Hiruzen replied, bowing alongside the others.

The six students knelt, half-bowing as a sign of respect before withdrawing.

Tobirama turned his back on them, his focus now solely on the approaching threat.

It didn't take long for his enemies to appear. Before him stood Kinkaku, Ginkaku, and a group of over ten elite Kumogakure jonin.

"So, we meet at last, the famed fastest shinobi in the ninja world," Kinkaku said, licking his lips as his bloodthirsty eyes locked onto Tobirama.

Ginkaku, standing beside his brother, erupted into maniacal laughter.

"Hahaha! That weakling A was so scared of you? Ridiculous! You're just Senju. Nothing more. Watch as we cut you down like the dog you are!"

Tobirama remained unperturbed. His expression stayed calm, though his mind was on high alert.

"Careful," Tobirama warned. "The wind's strong here. You might bite your tongues off with all that bluster."

Despite his composed demeanor, Tobirama couldn't ignore the sheer danger these brothers represented.

The tales of Kinkaku and Ginkaku were infamous. Long ago, these two had reportedly faced off against the Nine-Tails and lived to tell the tale. Not only had they survived, but they had also absorbed some of the beast's chakra, gaining the ability to partially transform into tailed beast forms.

Equipped with Kumogakure's legendary Five Treasured Tools, they were powerhouses who disregarded authority, even going so far as to assassinate the Second Raikage.

"Heh, Tobirama, we know you're fast. Why don't you prove it by running away? We'll even give you a head start!" Kinkaku sneered, pulling out the Crimson Gourd and Golden Rope.

Ginkaku joined in, brandishing the Banana Palm Fan and the Seven-Star Sword.

"Go ahead, Second Hokage," he mocked. "If you don't run, we'll just assume you want to be ground into paste."

Their arrogance was unshakable, and Tobirama could only sigh inwardly.

If he truly wanted to escape, there was no way these two could catch him. But retreat wasn't an option. He had to buy time for his students to retreat safely. If he abandoned them now out of fear, he'd never be able to live with himself.

Tobirama's decision was clear. If possible, he wouldn't just delay the brothers—he'd eliminate them entirely.

"You two are far too arrogant," he said, his voice taking on a deeper, more dangerous tone.

"Oh? And you're not afraid of biting your tongue, old man?" Kinkaku shot back, smirking.

"Brother, I think he's trying to tell us he can kill us anytime he wants!" Ginkaku laughed, his mocking tone full of scorn.

But Tobirama merely responded with a faint, disdainful smile.

In truth, Ginkaku wasn't entirely wrong.

If Tobirama wanted to defeat them, he had a way. It would just require him to do something utterly humiliating.

Taking a deep breath, Tobirama began forming hand seals.

Tiger... Snake... Earth... Dragon...

"Edo Tensei!"

His hands slammed onto the ground, and sealing runes spread outward in an intricate pattern.

Boom!

Three massive coffins erupted from the earth behind him.

Kinkaku and Ginkaku froze, their mocking expressions vanishing.

"What is this?" Kinkaku growled, his eyes narrowing as the air around the coffins seemed to hum with malevolent energy.

Even they, despite their bravado, could sense the danger emanating from these strange vessels.

"Kinkaku-sama!"

The Kumogakure jonin immediately formed a defensive perimeter, their movements swift and practiced.

Tobirama straightened, looking at his opponents with a resigned expression.

"This is why having an elder brother can be so useful," he muttered to himself.

If his elder brother, Hashirama, were still alive, Madara wouldn't dare to lurk in the shadows. If Hashirama were here, defeating Kinkaku and Ginkaku would be a trivial matter.

But fate was cruel.

Although his older brother's corpse was now in his possession, Tobirama Senju had long since let go of restraint after Hashirama's death. Without anyone to hold him back, he fully embraced his freedom and began delving into the study of the Edo Tensei technique.

He had considered the unthinkable—using the technique to resurrect his elder brother. It was a notion that bordered on sacrilege. However, the possibility of success was undeniably tempting.

Driven by curiosity, Tobirama conducted several experiments. But to his surprise, even after unraveling the intricate threads of time and space that governed the technique, he still couldn't completely summon his brother's soul back to this world.

Analyzing the results, Tobirama pinpointed two main issues. First, there was Hashirama's colossal chakra—no, perhaps it was more accurate to say Chakra with a capital C. Second, his brother's body had a unique constitution that set him apart from ordinary humans.

As his research progressed, Tobirama uncovered a potential solution. The key lay in using Hashirama's cells as a catalyst. By incorporating them into the ritual, there was a chance to reincarnate Hashirama at his peak state. Without this, any attempt at reincarnation would yield a vastly inferior version of the so-called "God of Shinobi," with perhaps only half of his usual strength. And what would be the point of summoning a weakened Hashirama?

So Tobirama prudently decided to focus on studying Hashirama's cells in depth. He had every intention of continuing this research, but his duties as Hokage proved to be an insurmountable obstacle. Administrative work consumed his time, and before long, the First Shinobi World War erupted. With such chaos, he couldn't fully commit to his experiments.

Thus, when Tobirama finally used the Edo Tensei technique to summon three coffins, none of them contained his brother, Hashirama Senju. It was a regret that weighed heavily on him.

Still… Tobirama's sharp gaze landed on the Gold and Silver Brothers standing before him.

"The three I've summoned with this technique should be more than enough to deal with the likes of you."

Clap! Tobirama brought his hands together in a decisive seal.

Creak—

The lids of the coffins slowly opened.
