"Ahahaha, big brother, it seems we've been underestimated."
"Heh, if that's the case, let's show them what we're really made of."
The Gold and Silver Brothers exchanged a look, their faces twisting into crazed grins as dark red chakra began to surge around them. Tapping into the Nine-Tails' chakra, brimming with malice and hatred, they began their transformation into tailed beast forms. While they only wielded a fraction of the Nine-Tails' power, it was enough to manifest six tails behind them—terrifyingly strong, but incomplete.
"Brothers, don't let the Second Hokage look down on us!"
"We survived the Warring States period! Let him witness our strength!"
With the Gold and Silver Brothers' rallying cry, the 18 elite shinobi they brought with them roared in unison, their bloodlust palpable.
"Yoo-hoo!"
The Gold and Silver Brothers were infamous even within Kumogakure—renowned for their violent and unhinged personalities. The shinobi who followed them were no different: maniacs, every one of them.
What followed was a clash of titans: 20 fearsome lunatics against four Kage-level shinobi. On the surface, the fight appeared evenly matched. The Uchiha boasted their unparalleled Sharingan, while the Senju were known for their prodigious chakra reserves. Yet, the Gold and Silver Brothers had not only partial tailed beast transformations but also five legendary tools of unimaginable power.
At the start, the Second Hokage's team was at a disadvantage. However, the battlefield soon turned in their favor when the Kumogakure shinobi witnessed something horrifying: the immortal bodies and endless chakra granted by the Edo Tensei.
Both Uchiha Tajima and Senju Butsuma could "die" over and over without consequence. In stark contrast, every fallen Kumogakure shinobi was a permanent loss. It was only a matter of time before Tobirama's strategy of attrition would claim total victory.
Realizing this, the Gold and Silver Brothers decided to shift their focus.
"If we can't defeat the Second Hokage in time…"
"...then perhaps we target someone else instead. What do you think, Tobirama? How far can a Tailed Beast Bomb reach?"
Their maniacal laughter echoed as two Tailed Beast Bombs formed in their mouths, glowing with ominous energy.
Tobirama's sharp eyes narrowed.
"This is bad!"
BOOM! BOOM!
The two Tailed Beast Bombs launched into the air in high arcs, aimed not directly at their targets but at the general vicinity of Hiruzen Sarutobi and the other young shinobi. Even if the blasts didn't hit directly, the resulting explosions would devastate the entire area, leaving Tobirama's efforts to hold the rear meaningless.
"You won't succeed!"
Tobirama's voice carried a calm determination as he drew two kunai, his gaze unflinching. In that moment, he made his decision.
"Hiruzen, Danzo, Koharu, Homura… The future of Konoha is in your hands."
With one fluid motion, Tobirama hurled his Flying Thunder God-marked kunai toward the incoming Tailed Beast Bombs. The moment they reached the bombs, the teleportation jutsu activated.
Fzzzt!
The first bomb disappeared, reappearing moments later in a distant, uninhabited mountain range.
BOOM!
The deafening explosion lit up the horizon, but the immediate threat was neutralized.
Tobirama swiftly threw a second kunai to redirect the remaining bomb, but the battlefield was unforgiving.
"This is the real surprise we've prepared for you, Second Hokage!"
Without needing to turn, Tobirama sensed it: the Gold and Silver Brothers had combined their powers, forming an even larger Tailed Beast Bomb that rolled toward him like a massive, destructive boulder.
As the second bomb drew closer, his comrades—now Reanimated Corpses—threw themselves at the incoming attack, shielding him.
BOOOOM!
The explosion tore through the battlefield, its blinding light turning the darkened sky into a sea of brilliance. Even though the Gold and Silver Brothers wielded only fragments of the Nine-Tails' power, it was enough to rival the pinnacle of shinobi strength.
When the dust finally settled, the battlefield was unrecognizable—a barren wasteland of charred earth and smoking craters.
Tobirama lay on the ground, half of his body missing. Yet, his mind remained sharp, his weary eyes fixed on the sky.
"...Was the last Tailed Beast Bomb redirected?" he wondered silently, his thoughts lingering on the safety of his students.
Known as the fastest shinobi of his era, Tobirama could have fled. No one could have stopped him. But in the end, he chose to use his speed and cunning to ensure the survival of his six disciples.
Because he believed in them. He believed they would carry on his will, just as another man would decades later—a man who sacrificed everything to protect the village and entrust its future to the next generation.
…The sound of footsteps approached quietly. Tobirama Senju glanced sideways, his sharp gaze falling on the three formidable shinobi resurrected alongside him. However, their newly repaired Edo Tensei bodies were now glowing faintly, signaling their return to the Pure Land.
"So, it seems the caster of this jutsu must leave as well?" Tobirama's lips curved into a faint smile. He seemed at peace, carrying no burdens.
Hyūga Tennin lowered his head slightly. "Lord Tobirama, I'm sorry. I wasn't able to help you much."
"Foolish…" Tobirama chuckled softly. "Come now, let's meet again in the next world."
Uchiha Tajima, his expression begrudging, finally spoke.
"I still can't stand the Senju clan, but… sacrificing yourself for the sake of your disciple? I can respect that."
Tobirama's smile widened faintly, though he remained silent. His gaze shifted toward another direction—where over a dozen crazed Kumogakure shinobi had met their end. Under the destructive force of a Tailed Beast Bomb, they were obliterated, leaving no remains behind.
The bodies of the Kinkaku and Ginkaku brothers, however, were still intact—thanks to the protection of their Tailed Beast Cloaks. Ginkaku's cloak had been completely stripped away, leaving him sprawled lifeless on the ground. As for Kinkaku, he wasn't dead yet. Weak waves of Tailed Beast chakra still emanated from his body.
Kinkaku groaned, his voice laced with agony. He seemed to be desperately trying to use the Tailed Beast's chakra to sustain his life, but it was clear he wouldn't succeed. Tobirama could feel the life ebbing from him. Even if a highly skilled medical ninja were present, it would be impossible to save him now.
Perhaps the Kinkaku and Ginkaku brothers had never imagined their own Tailed Beast Bomb would explode right in front of them, leaving them with no chance to escape.
