When a jinchūriki completely loses control of their body, the Tailed Beast sealed within them begins to stir. In such situations, whether or not the beast can break free depends primarily on the strength of the sealing technique. The Uzumaki Clan's Eight Trigrams Seal is one of the most stable sealing techniques— even if the jinchūriki is on the verge of collapse, the Tailed Beast may not necessarily find an opening to escape.
What kind of sealing jutsu Iwagakure used on their jinchūriki was unknown, but it was certainly inferior to the Eight Trigrams Seal. Previously, Han had drawn upon his Tailed Beast's power to grow a single tail in his battle against Kakuzu. That moment of weakness gave the beast an opportunity, and now, with Han completely unconscious, this was the perfect time to break free.
A faint reddish chakra began to darken, intensifying as it formed a menacing Tailed Beast Cloak. The oppressive chakra pulsed outward, expanding Han's body.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
A series of deafening explosions echoed as the massive form of the Tailed Beast unfurled, its presence overwhelming the land and toppling trees. As the transformation completed, the dark red cloak receded, revealing thick snow-white fur.
Kakuzu instinctively stepped back, putting more distance between himself and the enormous creature now looming before him— the Five-Tails, Kokuō. Towering over the battlefield, its five tails swayed menacingly. Though its body resembled a horse, it wasn't quite equine in nature. Kakuzu's gaze shifted to its face— four sharp horns protruded from its head, and its chin was unnaturally large, almost oval-shaped, giving it an odd, bloated appearance. Not quite a horse's face…
Kakuzu stroked his chin, mulling over the creature's features before coming to a conclusion.
"If I had to compare… your face kinda looks like a pufferfish."
Kokuō's massive eyes locked onto Kakuzu, filled with contempt.
"Insolent human, what did you just say?!"
"Uh, nothing." Kakuzu shook his head, pushing aside unnecessary thoughts. He decided to shift the conversation to something more interesting. "So, Five-Tails, I've always been curious— what kind of elemental release do you specialize in?"
Each Tailed Beast possessed a signature chakra nature— Shukaku wielded Wind Release and powerful sealing jutsu, Matatabi specialized in Fire Release… but Kakuzu couldn't recall what made Kokuō unique.
"Hmph. And what makes you think you're worthy of that knowledge?" Kokuō sneered.
Kakuzu merely shrugged.
"Doesn't matter. I'll figure it out soon enough." His casual threat made Kokuō scoff, its lips curling into a mocking grin.
"I've been watching from within Han's body, observing everything. I admit, you're strong. But that's all you are." Kokuō's voice rumbled. "Don't tell me you actually believe you're still fighting that steam-clad fool?"
Kakuzu smirked.
"Oh, I'm well aware I'm not your strongest opponent. Compared to the likes of Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha, I must seem insignificant."
At those names, the air grew heavy. Kokuō's massive eyes narrowed dangerously, a flicker of killing intent flashing through them.
Kakuzu chuckled. "Looks like you Tailed Beasts aren't too fond of that part of history."
"Hmph. Spare me your pointless chatter, human. Summon the beast within you. I'll crush Isobu first— then I'll tear you apart."
Unlike ordinary people, a Tailed Beast could sense the presence of another beast's chakra. Kokuō had already recognized the lingering traces of Isobu's power within Kakuzu.
For centuries, humans had sought to steal their strength. To Kokuō, Kakuzu was no different— strong, yes, but still another human trying to harness what wasn't his.
Kakuzu raised a brow. "So you look down on Isobu, huh?"
Kokuō let out a low chuckle. "Hah. He's nothing special. Even if you had his full power, you'd still stand no chance against me."
His words made it clear— the Tailed Beasts had their own pecking order. It seemed even within their ranks, competition was fierce.
Isobu, being large and primarily aquatic, lacked the land-based agility that Kokuō possessed. In a pure battle of speed and maneuverability, the Three-Tails was at a disadvantage. But in terms of raw chakra reserves, Isobu was hardly inferior to Kokuō.
Kakuzu crossed his arms. "You Tailed Beasts really love to rank each other, huh? So tell me— who do you consider your 'boss'?"
At that, Kokuō's gaze flickered to the side, avoiding the question.
"You don't need to know that. The only thing that matters is—you are absolutely no match for me!"
The Five-Tails, Kokuō, was clearly growing irritated. With a powerful leap, its front hooves came crashing down.
BOOM!!!
Like a meteor slamming into the earth, the impact sent shockwaves through the ground. Dust billowed into the air, and shards of rock flew in all directions. The sheer force of the blow left a massive crater in the ground.
From within the cloud of debris, Kakuzu sprang out, landing safely at a distance. His lips curled into a smirk as he eyed Kokuō with amusement.
"Looks like you're not the boss of the Tailed Beasts," he remarked. "I wonder—has your leader ever beaten you into submission?"
"Human! Enough with your prattle!"
Kokuō's patience had finally snapped. It lunged forward, rage burning in its eyes.
But Kakuzu simply raised a hand, making a casual gesture.
"I can see you're getting worked up," he said, unfazed. "I can't summon the Nine-Tails on such short notice… but I can still find you a playmate."
A knowing smile tugged at his lips.
Water mask had already used up his reserves of Tailed Beast energy—about four Tailed Beast Balls in total. Until he recovered, he wouldn't be able to tap into its power again.
That was fine. Kakuzu had something else in mind.
His hands blurred through a rapid sequence of hand seals—Boar, Dog, Rooster, Monkey, Goat.
The moment his palms pressed against the ground, intricate black summoning seals spread in all directions.
"Summoning Jutsu!"
The instant the technique activated, nine rings materialized behind him. Strange white characters glowed on each ring, inscribed with the words:
Azure, White, Vermilion, Black, Sky, South, North, Three, Jewel.
—Nine Masked Beasts!
(T/N: In case anyone forgot, we're talking about: The Nine Masked Beasts are entities created by Menma through the use of the Black Nine-Tails' chakra. Five of these beasts are described as divine beasts, while the other four are referred to as divine priests.
Menma Uzumaki is a character that appears in Road to Ninja: Naruto the Movie as the main antagonist. He is the son of Kushina Uzumaki and Minato Namikaze in the alternate universe of Konohagakure, thus making him the "Naruto Uzumaki" of that world.)
