Chapter 148 - Ch 148 : Collapse

The dimly lit Konoha prison.

The air was thick with a musty stench as they walked through.

Samui, Mabui, and Yugito were no strangers to this place—they had all been imprisoned here before.

The three women walked slowly, passing by rows of cells filled with all kinds of prisoners.

Upon seeing three beautiful and charming girls, the inmates' eyes gleamed with excitement.

They rushed to the iron bars, whistling at them and spouting a barrage of degrading remarks.

"Hey, little sister, you're really well-developed."

"Why don't you come in here and have some fun with me?"

"With a body like that, you're just begging for it."

"Hahaha..."

These prisoners, having been locked up for years, were mentally unstable and could only indulge in lewd banter, knowing they couldn't actually do anything.

Hearing these disgusting comments, Yugito was seething with rage, wanting nothing more than to slaughter the lot of them.

However, all three had chakra restrictions placed on them, rendering them unable to use their powers.

Due to her figure and appearance, most of the vulgar remarks were directed at Samui, filling her with disgust and discomfort.

Nonetheless, she held back her emotions.

They had a mission to complete.

The prisoners in this section were just ordinary criminals.

The three women continued further inside, reaching an area guarded by Konoha ninjas.

Samui presented a letter of authorization, allowing them passage.

After passing through two heavy doors, they finally arrived at a secluded room.

This area was much quieter than the previous one, with no iron bars in sight.

At the center stood a massive stone platform, where a figure was tightly bound.

Chains wrapped around the entire body, while heavy semicircular iron restraints locked the limbs to the stone.

"Lord Raikage!" Yugito exclaimed in shock, quickly rushing forward.

Ordinary shinobi became harmless after having their chakra sealed.

However, even without chakra, the Fourth Raikage's physical strength remained formidable, so the security measures for him were far more stringent.

In addition to sealing his chakra, his physical movements were also completely restricted.

Unlike other prisoners who were filthy and disheveled, the Fourth Raikage was kept clean, wearing fresh clothes.

Konoha assigned personnel to care for him daily.

As an S-rank prisoner, keeping him alive was in Konoha's best interest since they had no intention of killing him.

The Fourth Raikage slowly opened his eyes, his gaze dull and lifeless.

"Lord Raikage!"

The three girls gathered around him.

Perhaps due to not speaking for a long time, the Raikage's throat convulsed for a moment before a sound finally escaped: "Yugito…?"

"It's me, Lord Raikage!" Yugito responded eagerly.

"Samui, Mabui…" the Raikage murmured their names, thinking he was hallucinating.

"What are you doing here?"

"We came to see you," Samui said softly.

"Lord Raikage, how are you now?" Yugito couldn't help but ask.

"Have they tortured you?"

As she spoke, she tried to pry open the iron restraints and chains, but it was futile.

The chains were thicker than her thigh, and without chakra, it was impossible for a ninja to unlock them—an utterly hopeless endeavor.

The Raikage looked at each of them in turn, then tilted his head back, staring blankly at the ceiling of the cell, his expression dazed.

"You didn't come to rescue me... I see, you've been captured too."

Yugito immediately responded, "Don't worry, Lord Raikage! We'll definitely find a way to get you out of here!"

The Raikage's expression remained calm, indifferent to their promises of rescue.

He looked at the three girls, his gaze finally settling on Yugito.

"Yugito."

"I'm here, Lord Raikage!"

"Are you still willing to give everything for the village?"

Yugito answered passionately, "Of course!"

The Raikage's voice turned cold. "Then kill yourself right now."

The three girls were instantly stunned, and Yugito froze in disbelief.

The Raikage continued, "You seem to be living well here — not like captives at all."

Indeed, the girls' clothing was elegant, their appearances bright and composed, completely unlike what one would expect from prisoners.

"This privilege," the Raikage said indifferently, "comes from your status as a Jinchuriki, doesn't it? If you die now, Konoha won't be able to claim our tailed beast."

"..."

Yugito stood there, motionless, as if paralyzed.

During her time in Konoha, she had thought constantly about how to rescue the Raikage, the man she admired and revered with all her heart.

The Raikage suddenly moved, the clanging sound of chains rubbing against each other startling the three girls.

His expression gradually twisted with anger.

"Yugito, have you forgotten that you're a ninja of Kumogakure?!"

"..."

"Yugito, are you unwilling to sacrifice yourself for the village?!"

Yugito's expression flickered, the words sounding eerily familiar — she had once said something similar to Samui.

At that moment, Samui suddenly stepped forward, shielding Yugito behind her.

Her face was cold as she stared at the Raikage. "Lord Raikage, Yugito has been constantly thinking of ways to rescue you."

Mabui quickly added, "Yes, Lord Raikage! We've been doing everything we can!"

The Raikage muttered under his breath, "You can't do it... there's no way you can."

This was the heart of Konoha, a village teeming with powerful ninja, countless experts, and even a Jinchuriki hosting the Kyuubi.

There was no way three young girls could pull off such a feat to rescue him.

His expression grew fiercer. "Yugito, as long as you live, the Nibi within you will definitely be taken by Konoha's shinobi! When that happens, you will all still meet a miserable end! Kill yourself now — for the sake of our village! Kumogakure will remember you!"

Kumogakure will remember them...

Could there be anything more absurd than that?

Kumogakure had surely already concluded that Nibi had fallen into Konoha's hands.

They were merely prisoners now, branded with failure.

Seeing their hesitation, the Raikage suddenly roared in fury. "Yugito! Do you intend to betray the village?!"

"Yugito?!"

Yugito did not respond; the light in her eyes had already dimmed.

When she had come to see the Raikage earlier, she had been filled with excitement, constantly rehearsing her words on the way — how to explain her plan to the Raikage, how to convince him to give them just a little more time...

Samui looked at the man before her, now vicious and grim-faced yet utterly wretched.

Was this really the same Fourth Raikage they had once admired and followed?

She suddenly spoke, "The one who should be ashamed is you, Lord Raikage."

Her words left the other three stunned.

Samui continued coldly, "Lord Raikage, you're a prisoner of Konoha now. They haven't killed you yet because they plan to use you to threaten Kumogakure. Don't you care that your village might suffer because of you?"

The Raikage's face turned icy. "So you've already betrayed Kumogakure."

Samui stood her ground, unflinching. "You're the one clinging to life! Are you still hoping Konoha will let you go? Or are you waiting for the village to come rescue you?"

The Raikage's veins bulged with rage.

He thrashed wildly, but the chains held him firmly against the stone platform, producing a harsh, grating sound.

"Dammit! Curse you! Traitors!"

"Yugito!"

Samui, looking at the now monstrous Raikage, grabbed Yugito's hand and led her away.

The Raikage's furious roars echoed behind them, but the three girls kept walking, their steps growing faster and further away.

The three of them walked in silence, none of them daring to speak.

The scene they had just witnessed had deeply affected them.

It wasn't until they exited the prison that the harsh sunlight hit their faces.

Yugito suddenly stopped in her tracks.

"I'm sorry..."

Samui was momentarily taken aback as she looked at Yugito, who had her head lowered.

"I'm sorry, Samui."

"There's no need to apologize," Samui replied calmly.

"I'm really sorry... I... back then..."

Yugito's shoulders trembled uncontrollably, and Samui said nothing, only reaching out to pull her into an embrace.

Yugito immediately broke down in uncontrollable sobs.

Samui comforted her for a while before pulling Mabui over, holding both of their hands.

"The three of us still have a long road ahead. We need to live, and live well, for ourselves."

"Yes!" Mabui nodded vigorously.

She had already strongly believed in this before, but after witnessing the Raikage's state, her conviction was even firmer.

Yugito, however, simply wiped her tears and didn't speak.

In a foreign land, imprisoned... the belief that had supported Yugito until now suddenly crumbled.

Samui gripped her hand tightly, silently conveying her warmth.

......

Originally, Makoto had allowed Samui to take a day off to visit Raikage.

However, Samui went to the Hokage building in the afternoon and changed into the clothes she wore while working at home.

Makoto, who was sitting on the sofa reading documents, glanced at her and casually said, "Why are you back so soon?"

Samui, unusually, did not answer Makoto's question.

She walked to the desk, lowered her head to look at the documents, and asked, "Is there anything you need me to do?"

Makoto noticed her behavior and his expression subtly changed.

He sat up slightly, patted his lap.

Samui obediently walked over but didn't sit on his lap.

Instead, she sat beside him and lay on his legs sideways.

This position was not as seductive as sitting on his lap, but it made their relationship seem more intimate.

It was the first time she had done this.

Makoto didn't reject her.

Leaning against the sofa, he gently stroked her cheek and hair with one hand.

"Not what you imagined, is it?"

"…You already guessed it."

"After being locked away in that dark place for so long, it's normal for someone to go mad."

Samui fell silent for a moment. "No, he didn't go mad... It's us who were crazy in the beginning."

She curled up, like a little cat lying on Makoto's legs.

Makoto's hand, which was gently caressing her, started to move more freely.

Samui's ears slightly reddened.

Her cheek was pressed against Makoto's leg as she gently rubbed it.

"Lord Makoto..."

"Hmm?"

"Can I stay by your side forever?"

Makoto's hand passed through her hair, then along her neck, and down her collarbone.

Samui just lightly bit her lip.

To make the person on top of her more comfortable, she even moved her body up a little, pressing herself tighter into Makoto's embrace.

A key suddenly appeared in front of her eyes.

She gazed at it dazedly and asked, "What is this...?"

"It's the key to the dungeon."

Samui froze for a moment, then widened her eyes, no longer focusing on the sensations coming from her skin.

Makoto then took out a scroll about the size of a palm.

"This is the scroll that can undo the Raikage's seal."

Samui felt Makoto's fingers apply a little more pressure, causing a slight sting.

"Take it to Yugito."
