Theo's vision blurred slightly as he stared at the array of screens. His head throbbed. The enhancing serum he had taken earlier was finally catching up to him, draining his energy. His limbs felt heavy, and the fatigue that had been building over the past few days weighed him down.
It was hard to believe they had only been here for less than a week. So much had happened that it felt like months had passed.
"I'm a space miner," he muttered bitterly to himself. "Not a damn zombie-killing machine."
Back in his old life, he had spent his days prospecting for resources on barren asteroids and sterile planets. Now, he was drenched in blood and battling monstrous creatures. The transition was surreal—and exhausting.
Deciding he had seen enough for one day, Theo turned away from the monitors.
