The man shot his hands up in surrender, waving them frantically at Enzo. "Alright, alright!" he blurted out, his voice laced with panic. He lifted a trembling finger, pointing toward the hallway he had just come from. "Elijah owns this place—his office is down that hallway. There's a brown door with a golden star on it. He's in there right now."
Enzo's piercing blue eyes remained fixed on him for a prolonged moment, contemplating whether he was being truthful. Then, he pulled back his foot.
"If it turns out you're lying to us, I'll come back for you."
The man responded with a frenzied nod, his eyes dropping to the ground as he exhaled a deep sigh of relief.
Enzo and Adeline turned their backs on him, ready to move toward the hallway when the man's nervous voice stopped them.
"C-Can I go now?"
