Enzo tilted his head, his nose brushing along her throat. His hands, still on her waist, squeezed gently, fingers pressing into the silk of her nightdress.
His breath tickled her neck, and she whimpered softly, hating the way her body reacted so easily to him.
He pulled back slightly, his eyes locking onto hers and a smirk playing on his lips as he took in the blush spreading across her face. He knew exactly what he was doing to her.
"Did you sleep well last night?" he asked.
Adeline gave him a small nod, but Enzo only raised a skeptical brow, his fingers tapping lightly against her waist. "You sure?" he asked. "Is everything alright? Or do you need me to cheer you up?"
Her expression deadpanned, staring at him like he'd just said the dumbest thing imaginable. Cheer her up? How the hell was he supposed to do that when all he ever did was annoy her or tease her to death?
"Hmm… the look on your face says otherwise," he said.
