Enzo opened his mouth—then shut it. That was exactly what he had planned to do with her. But the way she worded it made it sound so dumb that he couldn't even bring himself to admit it.

The second they stepped inside, the cool air-conditioning washed over them, sending a shiver down Enzo's spine. A relaxed smile spread across his face, and he sighed in pure relief.
He leaned his head down and placed a small kiss on the side of Adeline's head. "You just saved me, cupcake," he murmured against her temple. "If I stayed out there for a second longer, I would've passed out."
