Brielle's POV
It was now the moment we had been waiting for. This part of the ritual had to be done by me. Now that we have acquired the hell fire, it is time I did what I was meant to do so we can finally part ways with Julian and Xavier.
" Deceiving us was wrong, Kyra, but I'll consider that you ultimately helped us in the end. Let us complete the final step and then all of us will then go our separate ways."
" Thank you for understanding. I will find a way in the future to repay you."
We went to another room with Julian and Xavier with us.
I had the flame with me, and it's still surreal that I went through such lengths to get it. I wasn't going to complain. My soul doesn't matter if it means that I get to keep my family safe and ensure that we do not suffer the same tragedy all over again. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't bring myself to have faith in their word. It was my mistake back then. This is just the right price to fix it.
" Alright. What do I need to do to get this over and done with?" I asked Kyra.
" I don't know if this will work, but since you said your powers have slightly returned, I will support you in this with my own powers. I'll channel my powers into you, and you will perform the binding spell."
" We'll give it a try and see what happens."
" You really had to go this far to get what you want. As far as making a deal with the devil, huh?" Xavier said.
All along, he and Julian never said a word and were just silent spectators. I ignored him and got ready.
He was going to go first, so we had him kneel in the center. I stood in front of him with the lantern containing the hell fire.
After the encounter with the demon Kael, Blake didn't like that anymore. I didn't want to think about anything else except the task at hand. Whatever we had to say to each other, we would talk about it when we got home.
I took a breath and relaxed my body. That won't work if there is tension within me. I closed my eyes and got in touch with my energy and power. I could feel the energy coursing through my veins settling in my hands. I felt Kyra touch my back and a large flow of energy entered me. It was time.
I took out some of the flame from the lantern. It was on my palm. It was beautiful but dangerous. I don't know, but I was so drawn to the flame to the point that I almost forgot what I was going to do. I snapped out of the daze I was in and focused.
Placing the lantern on the floor, I chanced the spell that binds the fire to the soul. It was working. The power Kyra was providing was helpful. Once I was done, I opened my eyes. Xavier looked at me with an unknown emotion. I couldn't read his eyes, but no matter what, he wasn't going to change my mind.
I embedded the flame into my palm and I placed it on his chest. He gritted his teeth trying to hold it in, but I imagine it was not bearable. He screamed out in pain but endured until I was done with him. Once the spell was done, all that was left was a mark on his chest. He fell down. I sighed. It was exhausting even with a boost from Kyra. Although she assured me that our baby would be safe, I was still worried every second that I could be harming the baby.
Just one more thing, I told myself. It's nearly over. I staggered a little bit because of the strain of the spell on my body.
" Are you okay, Brielle? We can take a break if you are not feeling alright."
Kyra asks in concern. I shake my head.
No, I am fine. Let's carry on. I will rest once this is over and done with. "
She didn't say anything more. After a little while, Julian was the one in front of me. He was expressionless but nonetheless compliant. I did the same thing I did with Xavier. He screamed in pain and in the end he collapsed as well. I had taken a hit as well. I guess I was wrong when I thought I could get it. It's too much for my human body.
I felt something trickling out of my nose. Blood was coming out my nose. My vision became blurred and all the surrounding noise was suddenly muted.
Yep, I overdid it. I was about to fall, but luckily Blake caught me. The last thing I saw was him saying something to me that I could hear before going unconscious. I just hope nothing happens to my baby. That's all I need.
