Alec looked at the organ harvesters who were gathered before him. He knew that the witch huntress had been killed. Just as well, he decided.
Her kind was all talk and no bite.
"The goblins are nothing to fear," Alec said, knowing that this was a big, fat, lie.
"Oh, I am sure Marie thought the same thing," one dwarf said. Alec rolled his eyes at him.
"And what do you suggest?" Alec said, raising his voice. "Do you think we should quit? This is just a goblin tribe. What do you think the king is going to do to us, if we don't get him that nymph's heart?"
Alec had always been a realist. He knew, better than most, who held the real power in their kingdom. That once shepherd, who had found a way to mix necromantic mana together with life mana.
An unholy union, to be sure, but Alec was not one to judge.
"All I am saying is…" the dwarf said, as he looked around. Alec could already guess that the man was searching for a recording device which was going to oust him as a traitor.
