"$70,000!" Adam smiled widely.
Others smiled, too.
However, Emily and Aurora's faces turned stiff.
$70,000?
Didn't they ask HR to give a salary package of $100,000?
Was Adam intentionally hiding his true salary from the family?
But the genuine smile on his face said a different story.
Emily chuckled lightly and looked at Adam.
"That's amazing, Adam! Congratulations! By the way, can I see your offer letter? Just curious."
Adam, not suspecting anything, smiled and handed over the letter. "Of course. Here you go."
Emily took the letter and carefully read it.
As expected, it stated that Adam's salary package was $70,000. She passed the letter back to him with a warm smile.
"That's great news! You totally deserve it."
Adam grinned. "Thanks, Emily. I'm really happy about this."
Emily nodded, but inside, her mind was racing. Something wasn't right.
Acting as if she suddenly remembered something, she excused herself from the room.
