Thalina ignored that and turned in a circle, practically vibrating with energy. "I can't believe I didn't realize it sooner! Ugh, I could kiss you right now—"
Zorath immediately perked up. "You can."
She clamped a hand over his mouth. "Shut up."
Vanora was now spinning in excited circles on the bed, picking up on Thalina's emotions.
Zorath pulled her hand away, tilting his head in curiosity. "What exactly are you so excited about?"
Thalina froze.
Oh.
Right.
She couldn't tell him.
Because if she did… he would NEVER let her go alone.
And she had a strong feeling that "seeking a rare herb in a dangerous rainforest" wasn't exactly something Zorath would approve of.
Her mind raced.
Think. Think.
She pasted on a bright, overly casual smile. "Oh, uh. Nothing major! Just, um… something clicked, that's all! Totally unimportant!"
Zorath narrowed his eyes. Immediately suspicious. "Thalina."
She grinned wider. Too wide. "Yes?"
He leaned closer. "You're lying."
Her eye twitched.
