Thalina stood in front of what looked like a solid, unmovable wall, her heart sinking as she glanced at Tharion's almost lifeless body. Then back at the wall.
What were they doing here?
Were they just supposed to stare at the wall and hope it magically saved him?
"Are we lost?" she muttered, eyeing the stag, who stood perfectly calm beside her.
And then—
As if reading her thoughts, the wall vanished.
Thalina's mouth fell open.
What had been an impenetrable barrier was suddenly an open pathway, revealing a hidden entrance.
She realized then—it was an illusion. A trick to keep predators away.
Her gaze flickered to the thick, wild vines hanging down over the entrance, obscuring whatever lay beyond. The stag stepped forward without hesitation, its hooves barely making a sound as it moved inside.
Thalina, however, stood there for a second, staring at the vines like they might jump out and strangle her.
