Thalina floated aimlessly in the lake, staring at absolutely nothing.
The sunlight danced on the water's surface, making everything shimmer beautifully, but at this point, she had run out of things to admire.
She had tried counting how many times the ripples moved when she kicked her feet.
She had tried singing again, but the baby stag had enthusiastically joined in, and it sounded like a dying flute.
She had even tried holding her breath underwater just to see if anything exciting would happen.
Nothing.
Three days, they said.
She was going to lose her mind.
Just as she was considering whether to start naming the clouds, a voice called out from the shore.
"Enjoying yourself?"
Thalina's head snapped up, her boredom instantly replaced with mild irritation.
A female stag stood by the edge of the lake, elegant, poised, and radiating the kind of confidence that said she knew she was attractive.
