It didn't take long before Emily found Dr Loma in the staff lounge, drinking coffee and chatting with two nurses.
Dr Loma brightened immediately when she saw her. "Emily!"
Emily smiled politely. "Can I speak with you privately?" she asked her after exchanging pleasantries with the nurses.
Dr Loma looked surprised by her serious expression. "Sure."
"We were on our way back inside," one of the nurses said, and immediately rose to leave with her colleague.
Once they were alone, Dr Loma folded her arms. "What's wrong?"
Emily looked directly at her. "I wanted to clear something up."
Dr Loma frowned slightly. "What?"
Emily didn't beat around the bush. "I'm in a relationship with Callan. He is my boyfriend."
Dr Loma blinked. "What?"
"Callan is my boyfriend," Emily repeated slowly in case she had missed it the first time.
For a moment, Dr Loma simply stared, then realisation slowly crossed her face. "Oh my God."
Emily nodded. "Yeah."
