Morana's Point Of View
I took a slow, deliberate step back, my gaze locked onto Edward's cold, unfeeling eyes. The man who should have been my father. The man who should have protected me.
Instead, he was the very monster who had tormented me my entire life.
I clenched my fists at my sides, my nails digging so hard into my palms that I was sure they would leave marks. My cheek still burned from his slap, but the pain was nothing compared to the fire raging inside me.
I let out a bitter laugh, shaking my head. "I never expected anything less from you." My voice was laced with venom. "You don't even deserve to be called my father."
Edward's expression didn't waver. He simply studied me, his eyes void of any emotion.
"You think that bothers me, Morana?" His tone was almost amused, but there was a deadly undertone beneath it. "Your opinion of me is irrelevant. You will do as you're told."
I scoffed. "You must really think you own me, don't you?"
