I woke up with a gasp as my body jerked upright, muscles tight, breath ragged. The hunger was still there, coiled deep in my core, but it was duller now—a lingering burn rather than a raging inferno. For a moment, I didn't move. My senses stretched outward, searching, assessing. Then, as my vision cleared, I realized where I was.
The cave.
My chest rose and fell in sharp, uneven breaths as I took in the familiar space. The stone walls, the faint scent of damp earth, the remnants of our last night here, Tor's scent still clung to the air, wrapping around me like a ghost of the past.
"I blacked out…?" I murmured; my voice hoarse. The last thing I remembered was the hunger, the unbearable thirst—then nothing. Just darkness.
