Mila blinked twice even though she heard the butler. "Why?" she asked.
"Why... um—" even the butler was confused. "Because its his house?"
Mila shook her head, "Why...why am I here?" She was supposed to be with the bearable old man.
"Chairman Alvaro asked that you move in before the wedding so the servants here can know you better." The butler explained patiently.
Mila touched her hair, dropping the teddy bear and plastic bag on the floor. She was tired of these people pushing her around, not consulting her once. How was she supposed to sleep under the same roof with the man who had clearly threatened her?
Not once, but more than twice if she kept an accurate count. They wanted to kill her. She needed to run. Mila nodded to herself, quickly gathering her things, ready to get out of the house. Her family was right. Lacie was right. She shouldn't be here. She didn't belong here. Never did.
This wasn't about waking up to reality or helping her family. Zyran would kill her.
