The reception hall ground became quiet as Mila and Cher walked away. Everyone could feel the tension in the air, but after some minutes, they returned their focus to the food and music like nothing had happened.
"I don't see a reason why Cher still can't move on- something that happened years ago and didn't even work," Mrs. Sarah commented casually.
Roman hissed, "Mother," glancing at his mother, then at Zyran.
The woman sighed. "Oh please," she waved her hand as she walked away.
Roman took a step closer to Zyran. "I apologize for my mother's—"
Zyran took a step back. "Let's not strain it, Rome." He gave a small nod and walked over to where the drinks were being served.
At the Montclair table, everyone who had noticed the small altercation between Cher and the Beckfrists tried to act normal.
"Delphine, won't you go over and talk to your friend?" Mrs. Clara asked, holding a glass of wine to her lips while staring at the woman on the other side of the table.
