Moving towards her handbag, I thought, maybe I could find a clue in it. She could also have left her phone inside after switching it off, so I wouldn't be able to track her.
At least she would have taken her handbag with her if she had gone out to eat. She took it with her everywhere she went, so it lying there raised more questions.
This was a violation of her trust, but I was desperate to find her. I shouldn't have left her alone in the first place. Should have stayed outside to guard her.
With shaky hands, I pulled open the zipper of her red handbag and peeked inside. There was her portable makeup kit, gum, her earbuds, and her car keys.
Everything had such bright colours, like her personality, like her hair.
Strawberry-themed, scented.
And then I found her wallet…
She wouldn't go anywhere without her wallet, money is needed to hail a cab because she didn't take her car.
