Meliza's POV
"She may be beautiful, but she is unknown and doesn't belong to his world."
The words on the screen blurred as I reread them, my fingers tightening around my phone. My breath hitched, and my stomach twisted into a familiar knot. Vicky was right; my face was everywhere, splashed across social media, gossip forums, and news articles. I had known people would talk, but I hadn't expected these waves of strangers hating my existence, dismissing me before they knew me.
There were kind comments, but they were buried beneath a flood of cruel ones, each one a jab, each one another reason why I should never have opened that browser. I tossed my phone onto the bed and exhaled sharply, rubbing my temples.
This is why I hated the internet. It was a place where gossip thrived, people spoke like they knew you, and strangers had the power to make you question yourself. And the worst part? I wasn't even active on social media.
