He sighed, leaning forward. "You realize that keeping Meliza around won't make things any easier for you, right?"
I scoffed. "I never said this was about making things easy."
"No, you didn't." He smirked. "But you also didn't deny that it's personal."
I ran a hand down my face, frustration simmering beneath my skin. I had come here to talk freely, but Vince knew me too well. Through the carefully crafted mask I wore at work, he saw the truth behind my decisions.
And tonight, I wasn't sure if I appreciated that or resented it.
