Voices of everyone filled the room as people showered my mom with sweet words. Joon and Jin hyung were busy taking care of the guests. To be honest, I knew they didn't really care that I had died; they were more curious about how the youngest son of the Kim family had died after his engagement. They were all strangers to me, their faces unknown and distant.
As the guests began to leave, I made my way toward Jungkook. He was talking to Jimin. I poked his shoulder, and he turned to look at me.
"We should leave," I said.
"Okay, wait a minute," Jungkook replied. Jimin was looking at us—no, at Jungkook—with a awkward expression. Without thinking, I reached up, grabbed Jungkook's jaw, and turned his face toward Jimin.
Jimin's expression remained unchanged.
"I was looking at Namjoon," Jungkook said, and I facepalmed.
"Oh, okay," Jimin replied, his tone a bit sarcastic.
"Excuse me," Jungkook said, pulling my hand as we walked toward my mom.
"We're leaving," he told her.
I slapped his shoulder lightly. "I mean, I'm leaving," Jungkook corrected himself.
He turned to my mom, his voice softening. "Mom, don't cry anymore. I believe Tae is in a good place now." He pulled her into a hug.
After that, we left. As we reached the parking lot, I noticed Jimin and the others were there. Jimin hugged Jungkook, followed by Yoongi and J-Hope.
"We should meet up soon. It's been a long time. I'll message," Jimin said, and Jungkook simply nodded.
The trip back home was silent. Once we reached the house, I headed straight toward the bedroom.
"Tae," Jungkook called from behind.
"Not now, Jungkook. Later, I promise," I said, not waiting for his response as I entered the room.
