[Chapter: 96 Yan Ruyue, your mother is dying!]

"Boss! Grandpa! I beg of you! Please, have mercy on us! We were not in our right minds when we did those things! Please, Boss, spare our lives!"

Wang Wu, quick to read the situation, immediately recognized Long Wu as the leader of the group. Despite being kicked harshly by Long Wu moments earlier, he knelt at the feet of the imposing figure, desperation coloring his voice as he pleaded.

However, Long Wu was unsympathetic to Wang Wu's begging. Instead, with a cold, almost indifferent gaze, he delivered another crushing kick to Wang Wu's side, knocking out several of his teeth in the process.

"The Master ordered us to break their legs! Hurry up!" Long Wu barked at his subordinates. "As for the leader, well, he dared to insult the Young Master. Leave him to me personally."

The violence that followed was swift and brutal. In mere moments, every member of the gang lay writhing on the ground, their legs shattered beyond recognition. The pain was so intense that it seemed to echo through the entire district.

Wang Wu and Ah Wei, however, received a punishment far more severe than the others. Their suffering far surpassed the average gangster's fate, ensuring that they would remember the consequences of their actions for the rest of their lives.

This chaotic scene played out similarly across the other shops owned by Lin Yuan in Xiling District. Some of the attacks were planned, others seemed more impulsive, but the outcome was the same—an overwhelming victory for Lin Yuan and his crew. The events of that night were so well-contained that not even a whisper of them reached the outside world.

As the dust settled, the Qingshan Gang's first defeat was officially recorded in history.

The next morning at Gu Qingshan's house:

Ye Feng slowly got up from the sofa, stretching his limbs and rubbing his eyes as he glanced at the still-drunk Gu Qingshan, who was slouched against the armrest. "Brother Qingshan, I'll head over to Yan's house now," he announced, his voice laden with intent.

Gu Qingshan, still partially under the haze of alcohol, waved a lazy hand. "Go on. That rich second-generation Lin Yuan's shops must have been destroyed by now. You can wait for the good news."

Ye Feng gave a knowing smile, nodding in acknowledgment, then quickly straightened himself up and headed out the door.

Though Song Xuan had been reluctant to help him out of the detention center the last time, Ye Feng believed that his connection to his former master would help him gain favor with the Yan family. After all, Song Xuan's long-standing illness had not been fully treated by his master, who had deliberately left that opportunity open for him to step in. This time, Ye Feng was determined to heal Song Xuan's ailment and use it to secure a solid relationship with the Yan family.

In the back of his mind, Ye Feng also recalled the stories about Yan Ruyue, the Yan family's youngest daughter. Known as one of the four beauties of Jiangbei, she had caught his eye during his earlier encounters. Ye Feng, who prided himself on collecting the most beautiful women to show off, saw this as a perfect opportunity. If he could gain her favor, it would be another feather in his lap, a trophy to flaunt in front of others.

If possible, he must win the beauties of this level!

Meanwhile, Lin Yuan had also risen from bed. Checking the time, he quickly composed a message to Yan Ruyue.

"See you at your door in half an hour. Wear long pants today; I have a few places to show you."

Upon reading the message, Yan Ruyue, who had been preparing to head to her office in her usual OL attire, froze. She glanced at her outfit—a neatly pressed suit and skirt—then hesitated. With a sigh, she gave in and replied to Lin Yuan's request.

"Okay."

After a few moments of contemplation, she tried on several dresses, eventually settling on a pair of loose trousers and a simple work shirt. Despite her casual choice, she still exuded an undeniable charm. The loose fit of the trousers did nothing to hide the long, graceful lines of her legs as she moved to the door.

Just as she was about to leave, she heard raised voices outside. Frowning, she approached the source of the disturbance.

"I'm Ye Feng! I know Aunt Song Xuan! I'm a close friend of the Yan family! Let me in!" a man's voice shouted, his tone demanding.

Yan Ruyue's brow furrowed at the mention of the name "Ye Feng." She didn't recognize the voice, but the name rang a bell.

When she reached the door, she found Ye Feng, slightly intoxicated, standing before the security guard, arguing vehemently.

The security guard, clearly not convinced by Ye Feng's claims, snapped back, "You're drunk! Stay away! Don't cause trouble. Who do you think you are, introducing yourself as a friend of the Yan family? I'll break your legs if you don't leave!"

Ye Feng's face tightened with frustration. He had attempted to contact Song Xuan but was met with silence. He'd come here hoping that by showing his concern for her condition, he could earn her favor.

He believed that as long as he tells Song Xuan of her condition and that he helps her get healed, Song Xuan will treat him as a guest.

But unexpectedly, The King Hades is easy to see but the little ghost is making it difficult. (T/N: Chinese proverb referring to the high ranking being courteous and virtuous while some small officials have cold eyebrows and bad words)

He found himself stopped at the gates, thwarted by a simple security guards. Though Ye Feng could easily eliminate the guard, doing so would only bring trouble. Not only would he risk tarnishing his relationship with the Yan family, but the police station was not far from here, making such an action even more dangerous.

As he racked his brain for a solution, he suddenly heard the security guard call out.

"Young Miss! Good morning!"

A glimmer of hope appeared in Ye Feng's eyes at the mention of the "Young Miss" of the Yan family. This could be his chance.

The Young Miss of the Yan family can only mean the only daughter of Song Xuan.

As long as someone close to Song Xuan comes, it will be easy for him to persuade and enter the house since she must know the condition of her mother.

His heart racing, Ye Feng shouted eagerly, "Is this the Young Miss of the Yan family? I'm Ye Feng. My master is a close friend of your mother. He has treated her before. Your mother has been ill for a long time. Please, I must see her!"

As he spoke, Ye Feng finally laid eyes on Yan Ruyue. Halfway through, Ye Feng saw Yan Ruyue.

But when he saw Yan Ruyue's beautiful face, Ye Feng was stunned because the face awfully looked familiar. It was a face he had seen before.

He will never forget about the appearance of Yan Ruyue that night at the club.

His breath caught in his throat as he recognized her—she was the same woman he had seen at the club with Lin Yuan the night he was framed. He hadn't forgotten her beauty, nor the disdain in her eyes when she had seen him then. And from the look in her eyes now, that same disdain was evident.

And there seems to be news that they were engaged to each other.

Oh crap! Ye Feng remembered that Yan Ruyue hated him that day.

True enough, that same disgust was in her eyes and her face as cold as frost at this time.

Yan Ruyue's gaze turned icy, her voice cold and unwelcoming. "My mother is not sick. You're the one who's sick. Stay away from here."

After hearing Yan Ruyue's short and cold words, Ye Feng's heart turned cold.

Ye Feng's heart sank at her response. He could feel the anger welling up inside him. This was not how things were supposed to go. He couldn't afford to lose the Yan family's support. Not only that, he had his sights set on Yan Ruyue herself.

He also coveted Yan Ruyue's pretty face and such a connection he felt cannot be broken.

With a clenched jaw, Ye Feng's voice grew more insistent. "Yan Ruyue, I was invited by your mother. You may not understand the gravity of her condition, but I know she's dying. You're making a mistake by turning me away!"

Seeing Ye Feng's fierce appearance, Yan Ruyue was stunned.

Yan Ruyue paused for a moment, recalling the time when her mother had mentioned Ye Feng's name, asking her to pick him up from the airport. Could it be that he really had been sent by her mother? Could there be some truth to his claims?
