Chapter 9 - DIE!

Under the black sun and the gray skies, near the base of a onyx colossal pillar, stood nine humans in a row, each one a far distance away from the other.

Leaning against a black wall, a tiny section of the colossal tower, is Azreal, with a nervous expression.

The row of humans stretched to his left and right, and in front of the nine humans is Michael(the bait) was getting ready.

The white columns loomed right in front of Michael, he was between two of them not daring to cross the line and leave the circle of safety... yet.

He extended his hand, and after a second he muttered "yes", then suddenly a gun was in his hand, out of nowhere.

Every one of the nine, except for Moroni, extended their hands, and after a second they muttered "yes", and guns appeared in their grasp.

Those guns seemed harmless in comparison to the gigantic monsters, but according to Michael, those guns were special, and exist to kill the monsters... as hard as it is to kill them.

In fact, they all might die, but none of them cared.

'I wonder how many times they died before I came?' Azreal thought.

Some of them came weeks, probably, before Azreal, and thus got f... killed quite a lot.

As everyone prepared, Michael took a deep breath, then he screamed -

"If you are not prepared to die, then you are in the wrong place."

None of them moved, and a second later, Mike spoke loudly - "Just go die already, old man!"

Michael lingered for a second, then he faked a chuckle, even Azreal thought that it was sincere.

Then, with slow steps, he walked out of the border of white columns, then he started running, his gun ready for action.

None of them knew which monster would appear, but to Azreal's surprise, he knew the monster.

From the depths of snow, tearing through the ground, a giant of a monster appear, with a loud thunderous noise of torn ground and snow.

Covered with snow-white scales, and red eyes, the giant snake didn't even have fangs; not in need to bite.

When the monster opened its mouth, the flesh inside was utterly black.

Its head the size of a small car.

The second the monster appeared, a sudden noise of gunfire echoed through and through.

Azreal closed his ears, while everyone took advantage of the second of surprise, the monster was in.

Each one of the bullet tore through the flesh, and continued untill tearing out of the other side.

The bullets faced no resistance, going through the flesh of the terrible beast.

The monster moved immediately after the first nine bullets tore through.

Michael was already on the run, hoping to attract the monster to expose its side; giving the shooters a bigger target.

He ran alongside the line of columns at his top speed, and shooting the monster at the same time.

The monster ignored Michael, and immediately shot towards the row of nine humans, swallowing Raphae as she emptied her gun in her last seconds before getting swallowed whole.

Not wasting momentum, the beast continued towards Azreal who was leaning against the black wall of the colossal pillar.

Azreal's blood burned with fear, and he immediately jumped to the side, his heart probably skipped a beat.

Without wasting the opportunity, the four on the left and the four on the right continued to shoot the monster.

Attracted to Azreal's direction of flea, the serpent's eyes fell on the four, conveniently queued humans shooting it.

Without a second wasted, the monster ate them one after the other, but then they started to move to the side, but to no avail.

On after another, five were gone already, the monster had a lot of bleeding, tiny, deep, wounds welling blood.

After eating the last one who was already out of the line of white columns; trying to attract it towards the other humans, and it worked.

The monster was still being shot in the head and neck, and the monster slithered towards them.

Azreal saw that the monster was moving away, fast, and Azreal... he wanted to feel safe... and so he ran to grab one of the fallen guns.

Most of them held their guns even after being swallowed, and continued to empty their guns inside the monster.

But some of them were taken by surprise, their guns fell to the ground, and Azreal could see two, far away from him.

Azreal knew that he couln't outrun the giant snake, he knew that if they don't kill it, he'll die next.

He wanted to feel safe, and if he had the gun, he might manage...

He ran as fast as he could, despite the cold freezing air, he was sweating, and panting.

He was terrified to get eaten again.

He reached one of the guns, turns to the giant snake and his heart freezed for a moment. The snake was already done eating the rest, and is coming back towards him.

He pointed the barrel at the giant serpent's head, and *Tick-Tick-Tick* it was empty!

He immediately ran towards the other gun as fast as he could, he strained his muscles... and when he was mere meters away from the gun, he jumped !

Landing on the harsh ground, he was too terrified to halt, grabbing the gun, pointing it at the snake and then immediately pulled the trigger *Bang-Bang-Bang-Bang-Tick-tick*

The snake slowed, then raised its head high then... it's slow tilted, a second later, he heard a very loud thud !

He opened his eye, and stared at the fallen giant serpent, soaked in blood, and littered with holes.

Some of the bullets went through its brain, while others littered the neck.

Azreal was petrified, and relieved, he couldn't believe that the first monster that tormented him... is now dead, and by his hands no less.

He smiled, but then he heard some quiet noise, and when he looked at the giant snake, he could see a movement.

He backed away, step be step.

Then the movement and the noise became very obvious, he clenched his gun "Tsk!" realizing the gun is empty, he didn't point with it.

Another second went by, and then something came out of the maw of the monster... Azreal's eyes widened !

"Moroni!" He said loudly.

Moroni walked forward with a limp, and one of his hands seems broken, the gun fell from it.

It seems Azreal wasn't the only one shooting the giant snake at those last seconds.

Azreal walked towards him, intending to offer help for the limping guy, but before he reached him, Moroni raised his hand in refusal, with a mildly irritated expression.

Moroni's eyes fell on the gun in Azreal's hand, but he simply ignored it and walked towards the pillar.

'That's the first time I see a human with negative socializing.'

Now even Azreal became mildly irritated.

The two sat against the wall of the colossal pillar, in complete silence; having nothing else to do, but waiting for the others to come back.

Time went by...
