Chapter 141: Gene Fusion! Battling Ferocious Beasts!
"These twins are Anna No. 36 and Anna No. 9. Their brains have been implanted with different memory data by the rogue AI," Francis explained.
"All this data consists of my impressions of my daughter, Anna—her movements, speech habits, interests, and other detailed information. Each piece has been distributed into these two bodies."
"What you need to do is fuse all the labeled data in their brains into one body. As for the consciousness of the original bodies, discard it if necessary."
After hearing Francis's request, Li Ang frowned deeply. He hadn't anticipated Adrianna's situation to be so complicated!
No wonder Francis was willing to exhaust the company's strategic resources and go to great lengths to bring LA Corporation into this. Without LA Corporation, there truly wasn't any other organization capable of performing such a complex AI neurosurgery.
To successfully complete this surgery for Adrianna was almost as difficult as helping V and Johnny Silverhand fully separate their consciousnesses.
Fortunately, for the current AI White Queen, completing such a surgery wasn't particularly challenging. With the Matrix—a massive neural network—it could upgrade to Li Ang's designated level whenever necessary.
"Mr. Francis, I understand your request."
After a moment of contemplation, Li Ang finally nodded and responded, "Rest assured, I'll arrange for this surgery and give you back the daughter you've been longing for."
"However, I hope you'll be patient. The surgery won't be completed immediately; it will take at least one to two months."
To achieve Francis's desired outcome, the surgery was neither too simple nor overly difficult.
First, the original personality data of one body would be entirely extracted. Then, the additional memory data implanted into the twins' brains would be consolidated into one body.
The main consciousness data would be replaced by a rogue AI from the Matrix. Li Ang would implant a simulated life narrative into this AI, making it obedient and act like a dutiful daughter.
With the rogue AI as the primary consciousness, combined with the supplemental memory fragments provided by Francis, and a cloned human body, Adrianna would emerge as a triply-stitched creation. Whether she could still be considered human didn't matter anymore. Survival and integration into human society would count as success.
As for the consciousness of the original clones, it would remain in the Matrix server, contributing as an energy resource for LA Corporation.
This outcome was better than having the clones sent to the incinerator for "humane" destruction.
Upon hearing Li Ang's explanation of the surgical procedure, Francis nodded excitedly and expressed his gratitude, "Thank you, Mr. Li Ang. I have plenty of time to wait. Please go ahead with the arrangements."
"It's good that you understand. By the way, do these clones have any physiological defects?"
Before officially beginning the surgery, Li Ang asked another question. Given the limitations of current cloning technology, creating perfect replicas was still exceedingly difficult.
Even advanced biotechnology companies would find it nearly impossible to produce flawless clones.
"They do, but the defects are minimal and almost negligible. You can proceed with the surgery without concern," Francis admitted without hesitation.
He didn't hide the limitations of his company's cloning technology but instead revealed the truth.
"Our cloning technology has a relatively low success rate, with only a 20% chance of producing low-defect samples. But for a father, that's already a significant achievement."
Francis's frankness left Li Ang momentarily speechless. As an outsider, Li Ang refrained from commenting and simply nodded. "Understood. I'll arrange the AI surgery now. However, only one of these twins can become your daughter. Which one do you choose?"
Li Ang had expected Francis to deliberate, but to his surprise, he casually pointed to one. "This one. It doesn't matter, as long as my daughter can return to me."
Hearing this, Li Ang nodded at Lucy, signaling her to escort the twins to the surgical laboratory. What came after the surgery was beyond his concern.
Li Ang's focus now was on taking over other corporations' drones and intelligent robotic systems using polymer interfaces—his real priority.
"Mr. Francis, I heard your company's gene fusion project has an impressive test subject. Do you know anything about them?" Li Ang asked, redirecting his attention to Francis.
Since a biotech company's senior member had come such a long way, it would be wasteful not to probe for some insider information.
Li Ang figured Francis might be willing to share details, especially after the significant favor he had just done for him.
"Gene fusion? You mean the project overseen by Niccolo?" Francis seemed to recall something.
Biotech's gene fusion project involved numerous technologies. This particular experimental plan included not only the company's technical director, Joanne Koch, but also one of Biotech's main leaders, Niccolo Logagia.
Niccolo and Francis, as mentor and apprentice, were the primary administrators of Biotech, controlling over 70% of the company's shares between them.
Essentially, Biotech was entirely under their control. Not even the European financial consortiums could challenge their authority.
"I don't know much about that project, but I can share what I do know. Beyond that, I'm unsure," Francis admitted candidly.
He was responsible for the cloning technology project and rarely concerned himself with other labs, adhering to company protocols.
Of course, if Francis wanted detailed information about the gene fusion project, no one could stop him.
"Alright, tell me what you know," Li Ang prompted.
Francis took a moment to recall and then divulged everything he knew.
"The test subject is a Russian mercenary named Yasha Ivanov. He's the best-performing sample in the gene fusion experiment."
"These human test subjects, after undergoing gene fusion, are sent into laboratories to battle various genetically modified beasts."
"For instance, tigers with venomous fangs, silverback gorillas as agile as cheetahs, and massive lions weighing as much as half an adult elephant."
"Ivanov survived seven or eight rounds of life-and-death trials to reach the final experimental phase. At this point, he's practically a semi-finished product ready for public demonstration."
